Gone: Bondi Rescue. Bumped: Friends

TEN has removed Bondi Rescue repeats from its weeknight schedule after disappointing figures.

It will be replaced with repeats of Friends from Monday.

Last night Bondi only attracted 637,000 viewers, thumped by Home and Away (1.31m) and Two and a Half Men (1.28m). TEN will be disappointed in the returns, especially given its first run episodes were so popular on Tuesday nights, and the show recently nabbed a Logie.

It is also producing a Bali-based edition of the series for later this year.

In moving Friends to 7pm, perennial favourite The Simpsons will return to 6pm.

  1. Yeah Friends at 7 so does that mean that it’ll be shown in full from now on? No more cutting out stuff like they’ve been doing cause of the sexual nature of the context, which has annoyed me but it’s kind of understandable because of the time slot it was in.

As For Bondi Rescue maybe it was just a bit too much to have it on every night being that it was repeats. Maybe if ten put it back on once a night it might do better.

Just a quick question, just how do they find people to use those boxes that track their tv habits or whatever they do to get an idea on what people are watching/tv show ratings.

This question’s been bugging me for a while now and I’m not sure where to ask this so sorry if this isn’t the right place.

  2. I’d prefer to watch up-to-date Australian news at six rather than an episode of The Simpsons that surely everyone’s seen before.

There are two channels that do that already, tune in to those. At least Ten do something for the people that don’t want news at that time.

  3. Oh my god, this is soo weird. the other night i posted a comment saying ten should move Friends back to 7.00 and now they are, and now Simpsons is back every nite! Two of my favourite shows

  4. I'm one of the ex H&A viewers that has recently discovered the delights of 2 & Half Men. I will go back to H&A eventually though, I'm just taking a break while some of the new arrivals learn how to act.

Ten may show some episodes of Friends at 7.00 that were skipped because they couldn't show them at 6.00.

  5. Not really much to say about this. I wouldn't watch any of the 7pm shows, H&A is for teenage girls, 2.5 men isn't that funny IMO and Friends is alright to watch every once in a while. Although I would definitely watch 2.5 Men over Temptation. And now The Simpsons are back, ugh. Do those decade old Simpsons rereuns on weekends rate higher than Bondi Rescue? Doesn't really matter either way, I think that's the way Ten's schedule will look until The Biggest Loser comes back in February.

  6. Home & Away's ratings have dropped off since the gorgeous Kate Ritchie left – who was the real heart & sole of the show.
I do like Nicole – very bitchy & fabulous – also its good to see Kirsty back again.

  7. I’m a big Simpsons sceptic, and I want to know exactly why Ten would air repeats of The Simpsons every weeknight at six.

The 6:00 timeslot on Ten always seems to be locked to crap American re-runs.

The last Australian-made show that I can remember using the 6:00 slot on Ten was ‘The Steph Show’ which was a series documenting Stephanie McIntosh and how she goes about her everyday life with cameras following her almost 24/7 for one or two months I think. Similar to the Ashlee Simpson show.

Great, another Simpson listed in this message.

And that was back in mid-2006.

I’d prefer to watch up-to-date Australian news at six rather than an episode of The Simpsons that surely everyone’s seen before.

They could have made a better decision for the 6:00 slot to be honest.

  8. I’m also disappointed that Bondi Rescue wasn’t rating well. It was a nice alternative to what Ten usually plays at the 7pm slot (even if they were reruns).

But hey, at least The Simpsons is finally back at 6pm. :D:D:D

  9. WHAT! So, ok, isn’t friends nearly finished? I thought they were nearly done with? And doesn’t NINE still own the last season… Why not pick a different show for the 7 o’clock timeslot? I like both friends and home and away…

I think we might see mixed feeling towards this, because friends has a nice amount of fans… how much ratings do they usually get?

And Simpsons? I love the Simpsons, but god couldn’t they have put simpsons on at 7 for now and move it back to 6 when friends finish?

  10. 2.5 Men is probably only doing so well ’cause most missed it the first time around, speaking of.

Joey, I noticed the last ep was on last night (well 2am this morning actually) I wished ch9 had aired it in a better time as I missed most of the final season and you can’t even get it on DVD unless you pay $70 on eBay for the Canadian version.

  11. no worries, im very protective of my H&A..I love it so..glad to see its figures showing some signs of improvement this week since BB has finished..hopefully a big juicy cliffhanger before the olympics then seven promoting the crap out of it during the games will breath some life back into it!

  12. But more often then not rpts of 2.5 Men comfortably beat H&A. Last night was the exception. I agree with Daniel Seven would be worried with H&As declining ratings.

  13. You’re right. Corrected with apology. That said 2.5 Men has beaten H+A on some nights, which has generally dropped since Kate Ritchie’s exit. Nine’s sitcom surged when BB slumped.

  14. david, i think you might have your H&A and 2.5 figures back to front for last night, according to other sources ive seen today H&A won the slot with 1.31 and was the third most watched show of the night..
