Andrew O’Keefe and the team from Deal or No Deal last night celebrated their 1000th episode with a party in South Melbourne.
Getting into the spirit of the night were warm-up man John Deeks and floor manager Serge who frocked up as two of the show’s own ‘Dealette’ girls, complete with sequins, blonde wigs and pink fluffy slippers! For the gathered throng, it was quite a sight…
Producers also thanked O’Keefe with a specially-packaged congratulatory video with messages from international hosts including Howie Mandel in the US, Noel Edmonds in the UK and even Tantowi Yahya in Indonesia.
The Aussie version has been running since 2003, when it began life as a 1hr primetime version with a prize of $2m against Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Ironically a half hour version of the latter show could not compete against the might of Deal’s 5:30pm edition.
Creator of the show, Dutchman Dick Derijk also paid tribute to O’Keefe’s expertise, even offering to take have drinks on him. Mr Derijk was quite a character in his video message, inexplicably adorning himself with flags, much to the bemusement of the puzzled crowd.
The 1000th episode of Deal will screen on Seven in coming weeks.
