Natalie wants to get slimed

Natalie Bassingthwaighte, who has parted ways with Rogue Traders, will take the hosting role of Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids’ Choice Awards 2008.

They will be staged at Hisense Arena (formerly Vodafone), Melbourne Park.

“I’m really excited to be hosting Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids Choice Awards, the event is so much fun – and I am secretly hoping this means I will get slimed!” she said. “The Nick Awards is one place where you can let your hair down and have a great time with thousands of Aussie kids. I can’t think of a better way to come home to Melbourne”.

As well as focussing on solo material, Bassingthwaighte will also return to hosting So You Think You Can Dance Australia in 2009.

They will air on Nickelodeon on Saturday October 11 at 6:30pm.

Multi-talented performer Natalie Bassingthwaighte has signed on to present Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids’ Choice Awards 2008 on Saturday October 11 at Hisense Arena, Melbourne Park.

One of Australia’s hottest stars, Natalie Bassingthwaighte has enjoyed a stellar music television and theatre career being recognized with numerous nominations for Appra, Aria, Silver and Gold Logie Awards.

Natalie said earlier today “I’m really excited to be hosting Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids Choice Awards, the event is so much fun – and I am secretly hoping this means I will get slimed! The Nick awards is one place where you can let your hair down and have a great time with thousands of Aussie kids–- I can’t think of a better way to come home to Melbourne”.

Natalie will be among a slew of celebrities who will stride down Nick’s orange carpet, ready to take the stage in front of thousands of kids.

“We are thrilled to have Natalie hosting this year, she is an incredible talent and having an Aussie female star for our first year in Melbourne makes it even more special. Natalie has been to the awards before and she is great fun, and the kids absolutely love her”, said Katrina Southon, General Manager Nickelodeon Australia.

Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids’ Choice Awards has emerged as one of the biggest events in Australia, boasting massive audience participation. Now in its sixth year it is the only televised kids awards show in Australia that gives kids the power to vote for their favourites and honours their opinions with a show filled with the stars they love.

As the evening unfolds, favourite stars will be awarded the famous orange blimp in a whole range of kid-voted categories, including Fave Band, Fave Song, Biggest Greenie and this year Nickelodeon Australia has introduced an expanded range of television categories, including Fave International TV Star, Fave Reality Show, Fave Action Show, Fave Music Show, Fave Comedy Show and Fave Drama Show.

Nickelodeon’s Australian Kids’ Choice Awards 2008 will air exclusively on Nickelodeon on Saturday October 11 at 6:30pm.
