Norway buys Out of the Blue

Norwegian network TV2 has picked up Southern Star’s soapie Out of the Blue.

The news follows word that the BBC will discontinue the series after it concludes its six-month order. The show has also recently been sold to France (AB Droits), Ireland (RTE), the Netherlands (SBS) and Belgium (VTM).

The series, set in Manly, tells the story of a group of friends who meet for a school reunion, which results in one of them being murdered.

The deal was negotiated by Southern Star sales exec James Braham.

John Ranelagh, head of acquisitions for TV2 said, “We are very excited to be acquiring this new Australian soap and believe it will share the same success that Home and Away has received in Norway as well as generating the results that our advertisers seek.”

  1. So does this mean that if the show is successful in Norway that it may be renewed? Or do you just mean that the show will now be screened in Norway?
