Sneak Peek: The Strip

Nine’s new drama series sure looks tempting in this brief trailer. It’s produced by Knapman-Wyld known for their hard-hitting, gritty dramas like East West 101, Wildside and White Collar Blue. They also produced The Leaving of Liverpool, Fields of Fire and Bordertown.

Headed by Aaron Jeffery, the Gold Coast crime series will also feature Frankie J. Holden, and Vanessa Gray.

By the looks of the trailer, it could be Australia’s very own CSI: Miami / Miami Vice, with action, murder, glam and sex (although the editor went a bit overboard with one groin shot here). Discounting Canal Road this has been Nine’s best year for local drama in a lifetime.

The Strip will premiere sometime after the Olympics.

  1. Only time will tell if this is another Canal Rd or as good as Underbelly.

If it doesn’t work will the bring forward some of the shows now stuck in the summer?

  2. As much as its nice to see good Australian drama being made and as much as I enjoy shows like City Homicide and Underbelly; I wish if only more family dramas like A country Practice or Mcleod’s daughters could be made, without all the violence and sex. Set in the great Australian country side.
