Zach Braff Scrubs out

The next US season of Scrubs will be the last for Zach Braff.

The series has moved to ABC after seven seasons on NBC.

The actor said he would be open to returning as a guest star, and could possibly also direct. He has been attached to indie movie Open Hearts as actor, writer and director.

There was no announcement whether this would be the last season of the show, but it will be Braff’s.

“The end of the show will be about J.D. leaving the hospital,” said showrunner Bill Lawrence said. “When you leave, it’s about holding on to your relationships.”

When asked how long Scrubs would go on, he said, “You can’t kill this show.”

“Next year we’ll be on CBS,” Braff quipped.

Seven will screen its next instalment of the comedy when 30 Rock concludes.

  1. I tried getting into this show by watching season 1 on DVD but I just couldn’t stand it. It seemed so forced and cliche’d and I just didn’t enjoy it at all. I don’t know if it got better as time went on but I for one will be glad when it wraps.

  2. ABC has indicated some enthusiasm for the show continuing in some form if season 8 goes well.

And frankly, the show can easily survive without JD at this point. It’s an ensemble show these days.
