According to Jim too racy according to ACMA

Channel Seven Melbourne has been found to have breached the Code of Practice with an episode of According to Jim last year.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority found an episode of the US sitcom on August 29 contained material that exceeded the PG classification.

ACMA found the episode which dealt mainly with the sex lives of three adult couples and their use of sex toys, contained frequent verbal references to sexual behaviour and visual depiction of adult role-playing.

15 of 17 scenes contained verbal references and 7 scenes had visual depictions that had a cumulative impact greater than mild.

Material classified PG may contain careful presentations of adult themes or concepts which are mild in impact. Seven defended that the material would be beyond the comprehension of children and therefore mild in impact, but ACMA ruled against the broadcaster.

Seven will be required to:

* provide a copy of the final investigation report, together with an explanation of the decision to Seven’s classification officers and to senior management, including the Seven Network Board of Directors; and
* incorporate ACMA’s investigation report into code training materials which form part of code training sessions attended periodically by all relevant staff.
