Adam wins Football Superstar

Perth’s Adam Hett (pictured, centre) was tonight selected as FOX8’s Football Superstar.

Hett, 20, wins a contract to play for A-League heavyweight team Sydney FC and a scholarship with Macquarie University, Sydney.

He will train with both Sydney FC youth team and Sydney FC’s first team – and there is a chance Hett could be in the team’s starting 15 for the opening match of the season against Melbourne FC on August 16.

He begins training with the Sydney FC first team at Bondi Beach, 10am tomorrow.

Press Release:

Perth player ADAM HETT has been crowned Australia’s first FOOTBALL SUPERSTAR in the finale episode of the exclusive reality series, which aired tonight at 8.30pm AEST on FOX8.

An elated Hett, 20, walked off the Sydney Football Stadium pitch with a prestigious contract to play for A-League heavyweight team Sydney FC alongside a scholarship with Macquarie University, Sydney.

In a nerve-wracking finale that saw the gifted player competing against Melbourne boys Reno Damianou and Evan Christodoulous for the coveted title, Hett showed that he was indeed a football force to be reckoned with, as the three contestants battled it out in the biggest match of their lives, joining the Blacktown FC team in a game against Sydney FC.

While Evan and Reno caved under the pressure of playing against the leading A-League team, Adam put in a blazing performance and showed the Sydney FC coaching team that he was a powerhouse on the pitch with a great football brain to boot.

So in the final nail-biting eviction, Sydney FC coach John Kosmina revealed that Hett’s comfort, strength and experience on the field ultimately made him the best man for the job – and anointed him the winner.

FOOTBALL SUPERSTAR, hosted by singer/songwriter Brian McFadden and former Matildas player Amy Taylor, has followed the journeys of 15 of the country’s finest young footballers as they took part in the opportunity of a lifetime.

Along with the Sydney FC contract and scholarship with Macquarie University, Adam’s prize pool also includes a contract to be the new face of Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain. Adam’s starring role in the Nutri-Grain commercial premiered on FOX8 tonight directly after the finale episode aired.

Hett, who worked as a kids’ football coach at a Perth recreation centre when he entered the competition, moved to Sydney several weeks ago after filming wrapped and has been secretly living on campus at Macquarie University and training with the Sydney FC’s first team.

And his form has been so impressive that he’s not only training with the Sydney FC youth team but is also training with Sydney FC’s first team – and there is a chance Hett could be in the team’s starting 15 for the opening match of the season against Melbourne FC on August 16.

Hett will be training at Bondi Beach, Sydney with the Sydney FC first team tomorrow, Friday August 8, from 10.00am.
