Press Release:
British sensation Billie Piper stars as an upmarket London escort who leads two lives in Nine’s new eye-opening drama, SECRET DIARY OF A CALL GIRL, which premieres Tuesday, September 2 at 10.30pm.

SECRET DIARY OF A CALL GIRL is an arousing series taken from the best-selling diaries, Belle de Jour: The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl. It explores the life of high-class escort Belle (Piper). While the real Belle maintains her anonymity, the diaries based on her blog, first published in 2005, have been turned into fresh, sexy stories.

She is known to her clients as Belle, but in her personal life she is Hannah. Belle is an independent and witty young woman, one of London’s top high-class call girls who genuinely loves her job. She takes us on a tantalising adventure into one of the oldest professions in the world and we follow her as she prepares for her trysts, meeting clients and seeing how she handles them. Her business is to understand what her clients want and deliver it on the double.

Belle keeps her call girl life a secret from those she is closest to. Her parents Gail and Niall and even her best friend Ben all believe she’s a night-time legal secretary. In her personas as Hannah and Belle we are taken on a stimulating journey as she balances her two identities.

Other central characters in SECRET DIARY OF A CALL GIRL include Cherie Lunghi (Casualty 1906, The Brief, Cutting It) as Belle’s tough and unscrupulous madam, Stephanie; Iddo Goldberg (Skins, The Last Rights, The Belsen Redemption) as her best friend Ben; Toyah Willcox as Hannah’s mother; and Stuart Organ as her father.

  1. Hi David,

Well, this was pretty good – especially for anyone who read the blog, or the its ilk – especially ‘Girl Next Door’.

But … it 9 want to show two episodes back to back, let them. But can I least have the warning of opening and closing credits ? On Monday we came back from a break, only to get the episode preview (ie, quick edits, grabs of conversation) that meant nothing in the context of what we had just seen. Sure, I coped, but I wish they wouldn’t do it. The episodes are only 22 minutes long anyway. Surely that’s enough advert room, even for 9.

Also, I’ve liked Billie Piper for years, and its clear she spent time in the gym for this first series (surely being pregnant for the second wasn’t easy).

    Bye now.
