FOX picks up The Informant

Another week, another Aussie drama is picked up by a US Network. This time the telemovie The Informant by writer Greg Haddrick (Underbelly, Society Murders, MDA).

The FOX Network has acquire remake rights to the story, which is yet to screen in Australia on TEN. In the telemovie, William McInnes plays a suburban dad who works as a police informant for a federal investigative agency. The character’s background is shrouded in mystery, with intelligence officers seeking to uncover the truth about his past by working with him.

“It’s a blend of a spy undercover procedural and a family story about his life at home,” said writer Tom Szentgyorgyi, who will adapt a US version.

Despite the telemovie not being mentioned on TEN’s forthcoming 2008 slate, TV Tonight understands it will nevertheless air later this year.

This good news follows US acquisitions of Kath & Kim, Sit Down Shut Up and re-screening of Summer Heights High.
