Local writing chance on NCIS

You could safely assume Bendigo-born Shane Brennan was pivotal in a development opportunity that is on offer for one lucky Victorian screenwriter. After all, he is the showrunner on the seroes.

Film Victoria is offering a six week chance of a lifetime for a writer to shadow an episode of NCIS from research to shooting. There is $25,000 attached to the Fellowship.

The writer will need to have proven credits of 4 hours already produced on Aussie television. Upon returning to work in Victoria, the applicant will then be able to share the experience with local industry (in other words it isn’t a shortcut to working in the US).

Applications close Monday 15 September.

Press Release:
Thanks to a deal we’ve struck with CBS Paramount in LA, one skilled Victorian screenwriter will spend six weeks shadowing writing staff on the acclaimed US television series ratings hit – NCIS.

We recognise that international learning and development opportunities are important for local practitioners, but that it can be very difficult to negotiate international placements like this. That’s why we launched the Fellowship program last year to help local practitioners get great international experience.

The successful screenwriter will observe first-hand the development and production of an entire episode of the show’s sixth season – from research, story outline development and shooting a draft to observing how the script adapts to the screen.

Upon return to work in Victoria, the Fellow will then be able to share the experience with local industry peers on local industry projects.

Applicants should be professional screenwriters with four hours of credits on a produced TV series.

It is important that you read our guidelines, check your eligibility and direct all your questions to us. Please don’t try and contact CBS or members of the NCIS staff.

The application deadline date for this opportunity is Monday 15 September.
