Returning: Shameless

This Monday Skins goes out on a high on SBS, then after the Olympics, Shameless returns to the Monday drama timeslot.

Paul Abbott’s irreverent drama centred on the Gallagher family and life on a council estate is back in its fifth series. It aired in the UK in January.

This series will see an opening of a brothel, a dead body in the Jockey, a pink limousine, an earthquake in Chatsworth and free egg and chips for everyone.

It begins 10:05 pm Monday August 25.

Frank Gallagher and his misfit family are back in an all new series of Shameless starting Monday August 25 at 10.05pm on SBS. The fifth series opens with a bang… literally, when Frank Gallagher has an accident involving an electricity generator and his uncontrollable bladder! Things go from bad to worse when, in hospital, Frank is told he has a heart condition and doesn’t have long to live.

Meanwhile Lip returns home from University, closely followed by his new girlfriend (much to Mandy’s dismay). But he is not the only one with relationship issues; Ian almost finds love, Carl continues with his “sexploits”, and the quiet outsider, Debbie, surprises everyone by falling head over heels in love. The Gallagher family look set to grow when Monica falls pregnant, but end up breaking even when Liam decides to run away.

Over at the Maguires, Mimi goes in a diet to save her marriage, Paddy has a visit from a long lost family member, Micky faces bankruptcy after setting up his own business, and Shane and his new girlfriend are brought together by a cockroach.

This series will see an opening of a brothel, a dead body in the Jockey, a pink (or is that fuchsia) limousine, an earthquake in Chatsworth and free egg and chips for everyone – except Frank who doesn’t seem to need the charity after winning the lottery.
