FOX Classics got its biggest ever audience on Sunday with the first of its James Bond double feature, Dr. No.

One of the lesser profile stations on subscription TV, FOX Classics, got its biggest ever audience on Sunday with the first of its James Bond movies, Dr. No.

The 1962 film starring Sean Connery was the third most watched program on subscription television on Sunday (behind LIVE AFL and NRL matches). Together with and From Russia with Love, they pushed FOX Classics’ Sunday share up 1.3 points (from its year to date average) to a 3.1% share.

FOX Classics is screening two Bond movies each Sunday night for eight weeks, running chronologically from 1962’s Dr No to 1989’s Licence to Kill.

Mr. Movies himself Bill Collins introduced the season last night. He has also just interviewed seven time 007 Roger Moore in Monaco, Australia’s own Bond George Lazenby in Los Angeles and renowned Bond movie director John Glen in London.

For the ‘Bond. 1. How iconic the Bond series has been for me from the beginning. My first attempt to enter into the ‘intelligence/police community’ was met with a No (1962) My first wife sunk into the arms of a Russian ‘Don Juan’ (With Love 1963) and on it goes to wife number two and three. I now find in life some Quantom of Solace is now achieved. Some 23 or so series later and now looking back those who have loved the 007 hero can relate to where they were at some time in their life. A really great character with only one silverscreen sadness is that 007 would have been larger than life if Sean Connery would have monopolised JB as the times changed. SC a really great actor. One could only speculate as to what may have been the outcome with Miss MoneyPenny. Finally, Daniel Craig just nailed and resurrected the character to us who know Bond so well.

  2. I had such a good time watching this the other night.
I’ll be tuning in every Sunday (until Seven finally get around to putting PP back on) to watch Classic Bond.
