But when are we Taken Out the boys?

Taken Out sure is taken' its time to get to the single blokes. Why?

Last week TEN premiered it’s new dating series Taken Out with 30 girls and one single guy. It had a modest first week with some viewers unimpressed and others warming to a change of pace in the 7pm timeslot. TEN is no doubt hoping it will build a following amongst its younger demographic.

One of the variations in the format is that the tables will be turned and there will be 30 single guys vying for a date with one single girl. But when?

It will be disappointing to wade through another week of girls all ganging up on one bloke. We’ve had five nights of that already. But how do men behave in a pack mentality? We will be waiting a while to find out.

TV Tonight understands it won’t be until September 22nd before we get to the boys. That’s another two full weeks of single girls. If TEN is to get any longevity out of this format, they at least need to aim for a week of girls followed by a week of boys.

It seems the shortage of single males answering the casting call might have been more problematic than anyone anticipated.

TEN should make a quick switch to next week’s plans in a hurry othwerwise there’s the risk we may never get to the blokes at all…

  1. Dunno what uz r complaining about, defending the blokes! One of the ones in the pic above works at the same place as I do…. has got to be the cockiest, sleaziest, most degrading thing that I have ever met, will shag anything that moves and probably anything that doesnt move!!!!!! Has already shagged half the women at this workplace, regardless of whether they are married with 2 daughters, 50kg’s, or about 110kg!!!!!!!! By now I would be sooooo worried of catching some nasty stuff off him….. thank god he wasnt the one that was picked!!!!!!!!

  2. What ruins this show is that the cast is dreadful. Most of the women and men are what appears to be the rejects of society hoping for their chance at fame. Even from the beginning, to start the show with the theme song “I never liked you” implies that it is mostly for bitching and that there will hardly be any successful couples to emerge.

One of the girls in the promo was quoted saying “He’s too creative”. How rediculous, imagine telling Bono or Sting they are too creative. And the guy who went on a date on the show last night was socially inept asking the waitress to join in and have some shots to drink, the whole thing was incredibly awkward. In fact I would rather watch re-runs of Keynotes, it would sadly have better ratings than Taken Out despite having Richard Wilkins.

  3. Two things:
Firstly I can’t believe this thing actually went into production. But then again it is 10 so I really ought not be suprised; and
Secondly, having made it to our screens, how has it managed a second week? Everytime on log onto the site I’m expecting to read that it has been canned.

A boy can dream, can’t he?

  4. God i hope it doesn’t go that far. It’s already surpassed the one week I gave it. I doubt the switch will help. it’s the same format. And it’s boring. have you seen the new promo with that girl who asks the guy what he does? he says he’s a carpenter and she thinks that means he works with carpet? it makes me shudder with the idiocy of these women. And they’re all the same. completely uninteresting TV to me. And the host is a doofus in the Andrew G category :S:S

  5. Actually I disagree with you Kay but not because you’re wrong about the rubbish aspect of the show. But because you are wrong about the lesson that it is teaching the “young people”. Currently the show show “rewards” the girl for taking a chance with a guy. The whole point of the show is that first impressions don’t count and that potentially if you spend enough time with them or 30 minutes with them in a game show asking inane question then you too might get a chance for love.
When you stop and think about it in those terms it doesn’t seem actually like a bad premise for a show. I say keep it on Ten but mix it up a little. Get the old single folk from homes involved. Change people’s stereotypes about who is looking for love and who isn’t.

  6. I can’t believe this show has made it into a second week! It’s rubbish, and seriously, is this the message we want to send our young people – that they should base their relationships on looks and first impressions? For goodness sake Channel 10, show some class and take this rubbish off!

  7. oh i forgot to mention..
another reason men wont go on it.. because men seem to be grateful when a woman glances his way.. why would he go on national tv and tell them all they’re too fat.. too ugly…
why would he ruin his chances with any sort of woman.

  8. this show is just like high school.. its only about whos hot and whos not according to which is terrible.. what sort of a signal are we sending out to everyone.. no wonder everyone is getting plastic surgery at the age of 12!! (ok a bit of an exaggeration..)
but then again i havent watched one episode.. i go by what they state on the ad..

its funny how they seem to have an never ending flow of women.. because we are all horrible creatures who are more than willing to ruin a persons self esteem.

men.. on the other hand.. just prefer to punch each other..

  9. Thanks David for getting the possible date for the switcheroo. I was hoping it would switch from 30 women / one man to 30 men / one woman every week, but I believe your theory that they didn’t find enough single guys could have something to do with it most definitely. I was half considering applying for it 🙂 but my life was / is too busy at the moment.

  10. I wonder if the men will be more restrained then the women? As you said in your review David, it’d be hard to imagine men getting away with some of the comments and objectification that the women have…

  11. Bring back shopping for love. lol.

That late night show was funny. A lot better than this trash, it’s full of vain egotistic people who base their opinions on a first glance.

  12. I agree with Armond going by the little I’ve seen they all seem like slappers and bimbos! Guess no self respecting woman with class would want to appear on this crap!

  13. 3 words: Worst Show Ever.

Where do they find the women who go on this show? Ditzy, slutty and blonde with no personality. It’s more entertaining to watch re-runs of “The Catchup”.
