Press Release:

YouTube Channel features Albert Square’s births, deaths and marriages, fights and love scenes for fans to relive again and again

BBC Worldwide today announces the launch of a dedicated EastEnders Channel on YouTube™, allowing fans to watch classic and award-winning scenes from one of the UK’s most watched soaps. The site, which can be found at www.youtube.com/eastenders, will host favourite moments from the soap’s last 13 years for fans to enjoy whenever they choose.

Classic moments from the BBC archive, such as Stacey and Max’s affair being uncovered, Kat and Zoe’s infamous ‘you’re not my mother’ scene and Den telling Angie he wants a divorce, will feature on the EastEnders YouTube Channel.

The EastEnders Channel is the second launch by BBC Worldwide of a YouTube Channel for a single programme, following a similar TopGear Channel launched in August. Only the most popular brands and shows will receive such treatment and these programme Channels complement the existing BBC Worldwide YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/bbcworldwide).

EastEnders themed content will also be added to the Channel, such as Alistair McGowan’s Big Enders and other shows featuring the cast including Shane Richie’s interview on Parkinson, making the Channel the ultimate EastEnders destination.

Simon Danker, Director, Digital Media, BBC Worldwide, said: “We’re committed to building more communities on the web around shows like EastEnders that people are really passionate about. We’ve done it already with Top Gear on YouTube and Myspace and now this Eastenders Channel will allow fans to communicate on a daily basis and watch favourite moments from the soap.”

Patrick Walker, Director of Video Partnerships for Europe, Middle East and Africa, YouTube: “Over the years EastEnders has built up a huge, loyal base of fans who love the programme. This dedicated YouTube Channel will enable even more engagement with this community as well as expose one of the BBC’s most popular shows to new global audiences.”
