Hackett waltzes around Seven demands

Reports today suggest Grant Hackett isn't too keen to prove how bad he is at dancing for Seven bosses.

This one’s for Stephanie Rice….

If media reports today are to be believed, Grant Hackett should stick to his guns.

“Seven told him they wanted him to appear in Dancing With The Stars before anything else, but Grant just didn’t feel right about that and said ‘No’,” an insider has told news.com.au.

“He didn’t want to be embarrassed, but (Seven CEO David) Leckie told Grant he had to do it or else that was the end of discussions. That’s where it has been left.”

Seven refused to confirm or deny the rift, only saying that “contract negotiations with Grant are continuing”. Hackett’s manager David Croft of International Quarterback said he couldn’t comment on renegotiations, and neither would Hackett.

Hackett is said to be uncomfortable with the idea of a dancing role, which could in turn lead to a new contract when his current one ends later this year.

If Seven were to drop Hackett, then Nine, TEN or Foxtel could all consider using him.

And in case you hadn’t figured it out, this means we’re up for a ninth season of Dancing by the sounds of things.

  1. Exactly knoxoverstreet, unless the contract explicitly said that it was compulsory to appear on the show (i wouldn’t sign), then he should be able to refuse without the contract under threat.

  2. Good on ya grant tell them where to go! Signing a contract with Seven shouldn’t mean it’s compulsory to go on their rubbish tv shows and potentially embarass yourself. Nice to know some people have some dignity.

  3. oh please! he must have known when he signed up they would have him either doing “It takes two” or dancing next year, sounds like they may have an Olympic themed “Dancing with the stars” lined up for next year as Stephanie Rice has been mooted as one ofthe celebs involved also!
