Returning: Life

TEN is finally bringing back Damian Lewis back to Life, with three episodes it did not air.

Good to hear that Life is returning to our screens later this month.

The cop show starring Damian Lewis is back at 9:30pm Wednesday September 24.

This is a show that started promisingly before the writer’s strike hit. Lewis’ performance is what gave the show a point of difference, along with some scattered lighter moments. This is the 9th episode of the first series, which aired in the US in November (TEN did not air 3 eps).

The second series starts in the US on September 29th.

Press Release:
Life stars Damian Lewis as Charlie Crews, a police detective who was recently exonerated of a series of murders after having spent 12 years in jail for life.

When a runaway girl is found dead underneath a freeway overpass, Detective Charlie Crews and his partner Danni Reese are struck by the death scene. The girl is discovered sitting upright, clutching a guitar with her throat slit.

Crews and Reese are able to figure out the girl used to play her guitar outside a grocery store nearby. After interviewing one of the grocery store employees, along with his son, they become highly suspicious of their behaviour.

Just when they think they are close to capturing the killer, they realise they’ve stumbled upon another
significant crime – a kidnapping from 12 years earlier. Could they be connected?

Meanwhile, Crews decides to take action towards the murder investigation mounting against him by confronting Dani’s father about his involvement.

  1. Finally a show on TV that I make sure i never miss. I havn”t felt this way about a TV show since Charlene and Scott got married on Neighbours…. LOL. I loved season 1 and seaosn 2 is just as good, maybe without a few twists or just that we are ready for them now. I still find it hard to belive that more people are not aware of this show, Spread the word people.

  2. Best cop show in existence? Someone skipped The Shield…

Life’s overarching storyline and the main character are pretty good, but pretty much everything else about the show is sub par, especially the horrible crimes-of-the-week.

  3. Don’t give up on Psych Neon Kitten! It’s one of the best shows to come out of the US in a long while. If you can, buy the DVD’s and watch it from the beginning. This is too good a show to pass up.

I understand why you’re having difficulty though. It’s a real pain when a show is absent for so long.

  4. I really hope I can pick back up on the vibe of this one after so long and such a brutal interruption.

I recorded the return episode of “Psych” on Wednesday night, because I was watching and enjoying it back when it was first on – but 15 minutes into this week’s episode I found I just couldn’t get into it any more. It seemed, with a now complete disconnection from the characters and backstory, just plain stupid. I hit “delete” and moved on.

“Life” was great. I hope that wasn’t just my imagination 🙂

  5. I get the problems with fast tracking but last year was a bad one with the writers strike but more and more viewers are tech savvy and will go and find the missing eps by other means, I’ve done similar with several other shows that have vanished from our screens.

I know they need marketing to support the shows and it’s hard to bring them back for 1-2 or 3 eps only but maybe it’s time they did that in some cases like they did with House or they’ll loose even more viewers as people distrust the networks and whether they get to watch the seasons in full, in good time!

  6. Life is the best cop show in existence. I strongly recommend all people who enjoy watching television to give this series a chance. You haven’t missed anything – its very easy to get into, and in 3 episodes time the season finale where Charlie confronts the people who murdered his friend and set him up is simply immensely awesome television. New season begins Sep 29 in the US, after Heroes. I’ll be looking forward to it

  7. Gee, everyone jump on the “Evil TV Network” bandwagon!
David’s point should not even have to have needed explaining!

My biggest bug-bear is the networks bringing back season 2, but it’s been so long since season 1 that I can’t remember half of it. At least this way the seasons will flow into one another.

Can’t wait for Charlie Crews and his apple eating crime fighting style!

  8. No doubt the plan here is to run these three eps into the new series (though that isn’t confirmed as yet). TEN got caught out with a handful of excess eps when the Aussie ratings season ended and the writer’s strike hit -just as Seven did with Heroes.

The interview here with Tim Worner was intended to illuminate some of the pitfalls that came with the first fast-track season.

  9. Sorry ten – too little, too late. Downloaded these (great) shows after you decided you didnt want to air them. I’ll also be downloading season 2, so dont bother buying & putting them up in 2010 / whenever you see fit to air it.
