Stars to join Foxtel Lap in Brissy

A charity event for the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute comes to Brisbane for the first time next week.

Pay TV identities Ian Thorpe, Matt Shirvington, Craig Wing, Charlotte Dawson, Demelza Reveley, Lee Furlong, Jacinta Tynan and Renee Bargh will host and partake in Brisbane’s first Foxtel Lap on Friday September 19th.

The one day corporate challenge will see teams of 20 people compete to run or walk as many 100m “laps” as they can to raise money for Australia’s leading children’s medical research body, the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. In five years, the event has raised over $2.5 million.

The Brisbane FOXTEL Lap kicks off from 8.00am at Queens Park.

For the first time ever, The FOXTEL Lap comes to Brisbane next Friday, September 19, kicking off the 2008 tour of the corporate treadmill challenge that will also see the popular event take place in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and, also for the first time, Adelaide.

The one day public event will see teams of 20 people compete to run or walk as many 100m “laps” as they can to raise money for Australia’s leading children’s medical research body, the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.

The Brisbane FOXTEL Lap kicks off from 8.00am at Queens Park. Teams signed on so far include Deloitte, Virgin, Nova, SCT Logistics, HBO+EMTB, Avant Mutual, Macquarie Group, Peabody Energy, Conrad Treasury, Telstra, St George, Fitnance, Queensland Police and Sarina Russo.

FOXTEL Lap ambassadors appearing in Brisbane will be sportsmen Ian Thorpe, Matt Shirvington and Craig Wing, Australia’s Next Top Model judge Charlotte Dawson and 2008 winner Demelza Reveley along with FOX SPORTS NEWS presenter Lee Furlong, SKY NEWS presenter Jacinta Tynan and Channel V’s Renee Bargh.

The stars will not only host the event but will also hit the treadmill alongside prominent Brisbane CEO’s and local business identities.

The FOXTEL Lap is not just for elite athletes, it is about participation, having fun and getting fit. In just five years, the event has raised over $2.5 million for MCRI, whose funds go to vital research to help treat and prevent conditions affecting babies, children and adolescents.
