Wanna write for Neighbours?

Two opportunities exist for writers to join the Neighbours story team for six weeks.

Wanna write for Neighbours?

You’ve got just two weeks left to apply for a scriptwriter training initiative which offers a six week opportunity and $5000. The only catch is you need to be a financial member of the  Australian Writers’ Guild  ( full/ associate and student rates apply). The AWG is offering a discount on joining fees for applicants of this initiative.

FremantleMedia is offering the opportunity via the AWG, which aims to teach writers many of the skills required to create and write stories for television serial drama. There are two positions available to be part of the Neighbours story team for six weeks commencing in November 2008 or February 2009.

Airfares and expenses if based outside of Melbourne are included as part of the $5000 offer.

Neighbours is looking for people with “a love of the serial genre, a desire to affect the way people feel and tell stories that come from the heart. Applicants must also have the ability to generate story ideas quickly, think visually, work collaboratively and have a good sense of humour.”

Check the AWG website for more info. Applications close 5.00pm Friday 26 September 2008.

  1. I think this sounds like an awesome idea 🙂 I am going to give it ago, depending on if the work i’ve done in the past is classed as “recognised”… Its a frustrating qualification to need to have to get into the AWG… but I guess I can understand where they’re coming from.

The only question I have is, is there a set format to write a storyline pitch in? or is that part of the creative ability they’re asking from you? lol just a thought.

    Dak.
