  1. i think that ten should rework TAKEN OUT

If the girls buzz out the guy in the first round like when he walks out on the stage and the host says ‘ok. just by looking at the guy decide if you’re in or out’ and if they buzz out then they are out of the game completely.

that’s a good way of keping the girls fresh and making it more competitive. the girls would go ‘ohh no wait. i think there could be more to him than looks’

also they should also put some sort of cash prize. the guy can take the money or the girl on a date. so, if the two girls at the end he has to choose from are not his type as in looks because that is all he has to go on, he can say ‘i’ll take the money’ which could be something like $10,000 or something or if the girl is hot then he could say ‘i’ll take the girl on the date’ as it is a dating show and the guys come on the show for a date

also they should change the cash amount each night. so when the guy walks on the stage for the first time he has no idea of the cash amount. then when he is down to the last two girls and he has to choose the host can say ‘do you want the date or the money’ and if he says ‘the money’ then the host can say ‘ohh to bad. the amount is $5’ or another night ‘ohh good. the cash is $10,000’ so it changes every night so the guy has to work hard and think ‘i could get a girl on a date and maybe a girlfriend or i can walk about thousands of dollars richer’ and the girls also have to put first apperances aside as they can leave the show if they buzz out in the first round.

what are your thoughts on that idea? i think it would put new life into the show for sure and bump up the raitings.

it would be funny if a guy had a really hot girl but he choose the money and then found out the amount was $2.50

  2. The Office would be epic in a 7pm slot, but I don’t think thats ever going to happen. I’m not too sure how well it would do against 2.5 Men, but it definitely has the potential to be a hit. I recently watched the first two seasons of the show and am looking forward to the third sometime down the line.. And as you said “hey”, it would definitely do a lot better than Taken Out or Matt Groening cartoons.

  3. Just looking at the ratings for Australian Idol, how do they compare to last years ratings for the same shows. I didn’t think they were much different than this years, but the way they are talking you would think they were rating through the roof.

  4. I don’t know if there’s anything Taken out could do to succeed. to me it’s a poor concept with poor execution. It’ll be a mere memory soon enough.

I agree with all this talk that Rove needs a change up. To me they have so much talent on there with Pete, Hamish & Andy, Ryan Shelton, and Rove himself but the format is a little too tired. I also don’t really care for Carrie Bickmore. her segment is funny sometimes but she herself isn’t. I always feel with her she’s there flying the ‘female’ flag :S I’d much rather see Meshel Laurie on; whenever she’s on she’s just hilarious. I also think they need to do something more with Pete than Petespace and then whacking him on the couch. same with Ryan; Investigationing is getting a little old. What happened to all those good ol’ Rove segments like What The?, Tell Us where to go *back when Corrine was on*, My Charada? and i always loved when they got the celebs to play some kinda game; now they all just sit on the couch and shout witty comments back to one another.

It’s definitely a fixable problem; i just hope they do it! there’s so much comedic talent there that’s not being harnessed. 😛

  5. Looks like Taken Out will be taken out of the schedule quick-smart now. 623,000 is shocking. I don’t think it should get axed, but it needs to be seriously re-worked for it to succeed.

  6. Seven need to program a one off event or something on Thursday night at the same time as the Strip. Its not as good as City Homicide and Packed to the Rafters – people are never going to buy the Gold Coast as CSI Miami – If people miss one week noone will go back.

Ghost Wisperer is not going to kill it.

  7. I’m not sure if I like Rush or The Strip, neither grabbed me but I’ll give them a chance and watch again, pilots are unpredictable.

But I’m much rather watch Breaking Bad on Showcase, fraken fantastic show, on at the same time as The Strip!

  8. The Strip was very poor indeed. The acting was very weak, worse than Sea Patrol. On the plus side the Gold Coast skyscrapers made it interesting, though im not so sure that’s a good thing. Id expect around 1.5 mill viewers, and I agree with you RichoTB that it will fall from grace quite quickly if this is the quality we can expect.

  9. spunkymonkeycaesar

I must say I disagree with you RichoTB, as I thoroughly enjoyed the season premiere of The Strip and was not at all disappointed. Whilst The Strip may have been very much like CSI: Miami or any other cop show, it can not be denied all cop shows in one way or another are very much alike and are in turn a copy of one another, as they all contain similar substance and really, if you think about it not much can be different from one cop show / police procedural.

  10. Yeah for some reason, including the personal lives in cop shows just doesn’t feel right, apart from svu. When they did that with goren in criminal intent, it just didn’t feel like the same show. The last you will probably see of this in the current season is purgatory which airs next week. I thought that the purgatory ep was really bad, but i guess they needed to have some way to get things back to normal with goren and eames.

  11. Blah. I just watched The Strip’s first episode and Dave hit the nail right on the head. Its nothing special – just another police procedural trying too hard to become a clone of a CBS cop show. The characters are indeed pretty unlikable. Just like Criminal Minds, they were a bunch of shallow one-sided, one-dimensional mockups. On the plus side, the cinematography was good and I liked seeing the aerial shots of skyscrapers, the beach, the city, etc. The camerawork was great. But they really need to hire some new writers as everything that came out of the 2 main detectives’ mouths was just cliche’d and dumb. I’d rather watch City Homicide – at least the characters are grounded and its actually got some substance to it. The Strip goes for style over substance and falls flat as a result. I haven’t seen Rush yet, but I probably won’t bother. And what’s with all the blood. I sat through 13 Underbelly eps and it was never as graphic as those 2 corpses on the show tonight with all the blood pouring out of their heads. And the ECUs on the bloody faces was just wrong.

All up, it was a decent hour but I doubt I’ll catch the series in future. Aaron Jeffreys tried too hard to be David Caruso and that female detective that kept moaning about her partner’s love life like it was actually any of her business was just annoying. I expect it will gather 1.5-1.9 million viewers when the ratings show up, but it will diminish each week. It really wasn’t as good as the trailers made it out to be, and a lot of parts of it were annoying. Come to think of it, just about every character was annoying. Especially the trophy wife chick. Every time she spoke I laughed. I doubt thats what Nine were going for when they cast her.

As for Idol, 1 hour a night for a month is overkill to the max. I’ve watched every season except this year. I guess I just lost interest.

  12. 1) I agree rove needs to shake up the show a bit. It has become used and boring and as of late i have tuned out of the program.
    2) Why doesn’t channel 10 have the rights to season 10 of friends, I wanted to watch it!
    3) Idol is doing well this year, I actually think that some of the voices are the best ever, even though I didn’t want to two who got in last night (the kid and asian guy) to get through, they were the two I thought were weakest on the night…Besides the girl who lost her voice..
And it was funny lasy night (wednesday night) when Kyle suggested to the overweight girl he didn’t know what he didn’t like about her…I KNOW! he does not like that she is overweight, and he was trying to tiptoe around saying it straight to her!
    4) Why are there no figures for abc on wednesday? I only ask because I think they best TEN…again

  13. Still love Rove,But it needs some changes and change segment order and have bands on midway to break it up
Check out Graham Norton show on ABC 2 Fridays at 9.30

  14. thanks for the info Nathan87. I was wondering why they cut it off with only one season to go. Maybe when Taken Out finally gets canned they’ll bring back Futurama. Hell id happily watch the Simpsons.

Alan Sugar’s going wayyyy down. I think we all saw that coming. horrible decision to bring back that format when Nine dumped it years ago.

  15. yeah come on people. watch abc.

the hollowmen and very small business were amazing shows. loved them.

got to see the hollowmen isn’t right at the bottom and close to 1m veiwers.

i hope it gets better. i love it. me and my dad watch it every wednesday night. it’s our thing. so cool.
