Anna Coren tonight signed off her final bulletin at Today Tonight.

After about twenty months as the permanent host of the show, plus several more as summer host, Coren has ended her stint to pursue work in Hong Kong.

“I’m heading overseas,” she told us.

She thanked viewers for letting her into their homes, which she described as “an honour and a privelege.”

She also thanked Seven hinting that hopefully their paths might cross again sometime in the future.

On Monday the show is to be presented by “the lovely and talented” Matthew White.

No more famous Coren segues…..

  2. walking past the studio sometime after 7pm last night, anna and crew were celebrating around the set and she had flowers and was getting hugs. fair frew number of people watching through the glass as well.

  4. Just to further the rumours that Leckie & co. were p****d off at her:

    In Sydney when they played the weather, the song they played over the top was Placebo’s “Song to Say Goodbye”. The title itself and the part they played (ie basically the title repeated) is innocent enough, but not when you look at some of the actual lyrics of the song ie the first 2 lines read “You are one of God’s mistakes/You crying, tragic waste of skin”.

    I’m sure I’m reading too much into it, but still I found it amusing…!

  5. Sadly that’s the risk of being a host. I think with Anna hosting TT and the show copping flak it taught us Naomi wasn’t anywhere near as guilty of all her crimes either (some but not all)… seems it’s the show. Good luck Mr White.

  7. It’s not her fault they got sued it’s the idiot producers and people who write her auto cue and tell hr what to say. She is being made a scape goat. She built on Naomi’s ratings and have given 7 No.1 @ 6.30. Just to remind people TT never looked like even having a hope in hell of toppling ACA pre 2006 (or is it 05?). For someone who delivered an average of 1.3million 5 nights a week for 20 months 7 is mighty ungrateful.

  8. The Chaser’s haven’t even returned to TV yet. Why would they do something about her? They seem to always move away from past subjects in a new year. It’ll be different if they start up again next year.

  10. Let’s hope for Matt’s sake there those segues won’t become synonymous with him! Meanwhile, I tuned in for the farewell and noticed no one rushing in with flowers and hugs…!
