Endemol to format The Gruen Transfer

Wil Anderson's advertising panel show is about to have a Dutch remake.

Dutch giant Endemol has optioned format rights for The Gruen Transfer ahead of its Mipcom launch.

Coproduced by Andrew Denton’s Zapruder and ABC-TV the show is represented internationally by ABC Commercial. The Wil Anderson show has been one of the year’s biggest new hits, recommissioned for a second series next year.

The Gruen Transfer is a strong and successful format and will appeal to Dutch viewers for the unique and entertaining way it looks at advertising,” said ABC commercial’s manager of program sales worldwide, Karen Dacey.

  1. Agreed. It was a great show. Can’t wait for the second series. When I first heard about it I thought it would bomb but it definitely has been a surprise success and it’s quite obvious now how an advertising-based show lends itself to humour and an interesting panel show.

Also nice to see Aussie TV leading the way and another one of our ideas being picked up internationally.

  2. Good luck to them. Gruen was a surprisingly entertaining show. When I first heard about it I figured it would be full of industry plants and few revelations but there have been some honest discussions and interesting points made. The episode where they spliced together all the adds for face creams with miracle ingredients was priceless.
