Chris Lilley is said to be working on a new project for the ABC.

According to news.com.au, Lilley has said he is interested in continuing the story of try-hard cop Phil and exploring Ja’mie’s character as she left school.

An ABC spokeswoman confirmed it had been in talks with the writer / performer.

Meanwhile, Summer Heights High is about to get another run on the broadcaster, returning to screens at 9:30pm Wednesday October 15.

Apologies to Rangas everywhere.

Press Release:
Put down your pens, rulers, mobile phones and lipgloss…and get ready for a life lesson you won’t forget!

Summer Heights High returns to ABC1 for repeat screenings Wednesdays at 9:30pm and on ABC2 Thursdays at 9:00pm. The comedy is written by and stars comedian Chris Lilley – the creator of the award-winning We Can Be Heroes: Finding the Australian of the Year.

Summer Heights High explores what happens over one school term in an average Australian high school. Continuing the successful mockumentary format of We Can Be Heroes, Lilley brings to life Jonah Takalua, Mr G and Ja’mie King.

Hilarious, absurd, and frequently shocking, Summer Heights High reveals a world where small issues become huge, social groups are important, careers are built, young minds are moulded, hopes are shattered, and dreams are realised.

Chris Lilley’s uncanny insight into human behaviour and ability to mould these observations into characters will hit a chord with everyone, in particular students, parents and teachers, who will recognise something familiar in Jonah, Mr G and Ja’mie which is both funny and, at times confronting.

In episode one we are introduced to Summer Heights High. Three individuals stand out – Mr G, an ego-driven drama teacher on a mission to change the face of drama education; Ja’mie King, a bitchy private schoolgirl on a student exchange, set to make her mark; and Jonah Takalua, a mischievous schoolboy from Tonga with the odds stacked against him.

Summer Heights High will be repeated on ABC2 – Thursday, October 16 at 9:00pm

  1. Oh god 🙁
Let me guess, something where he plays all the major parts, something where he dress’ up like a girl, all set in a period where he gets to hang out with school kids hah! Peter Pan syndrome

  2. The ABC should just do ‘The Chris Lilley Show’ like The Cathernie Tate Show or Little Britain.
Give him room to further explore all his characters and also do some sketches…

  3. haha! we studied australian humour last year for english, and i did my final report thing on chris lilley, and i got an a+ but i think thats cause the teacher was in love with chris lilley!

  4. You know, I try to watch We Can Be Heroes right to the end, but despite ABC showing re-runs of the series, I always forgot to watch a week’s episode. Now I have to get it on DVD to make sure that this will never happen again.

  5. can’t wait
