Nine denies deal with Williams

Channel Nine is denying reports it has a contract with the wife of convicted criminal Carl Williams.

The Nine Network has denied it has a network contract with Roberta Williams, after legal sources say a 12-month deal was struck this year.

Nine’s Melbourne publicity manager Michelle Stamper said, “There has never been any contract with Roberta Williams and there never will be.”

But the Herald Sun is speculating on rumours of a $150,000 deal, noting: It is believed $3000 a week is changing hands under a scheme built around Williams, the former wife of underworld serial killer Carl Williams.

The identity of the signatories is unclear.

Since April, Williams has made several appearances on A Current Affair.

The newspaper said she did not return calls yesterday, but has previously denied being paid for TV appearances.

She is due to appear in court this month on tax evasion charges.

  1. trust nine to get involved in the underworld.
And “former wife of underworld serial killer Carl Williams”? That’s nothing to be proud of. “Oh, look at moi, I didn’t get killed by my crazed buffoonery ex!”

  2. Just how do the Networks get around the old “can’t benefit from a crime’
They seem to get ‘a lot of convicted persons on the box – all freebies no doubt.
