Second ‘Secret Life’ building for sale

Just a month after one key location in The Secret Life of Us sells, now the other is on the market.

The 1929 apartment block which featured in The Secret Life of Us is for sale.

Formerly known as the Belvedere, the 3-level, 13-unit apartment at the corner of Upper Esplanade and Robe Street, was one of two St Kilda apartment buildings featured in the TEN series. The other, a few streets away, was also recently sold for $4.95 million.

The rooftop terrace is recognised as the site where the show’s characters contemplated their woes before million dollar views over Port Phillip Bay, Luna Park and the Palais Theatre. But that view has recently become the target of a major development which has seen local protests, including some by various celebrities.

Since then, there has also been speculation that the global financial meltdown has all but scuttled St Kilda’s “Triangle” project.

Agents Hocking Stuart expects 22 Upper Esplanade to sell between $4.6 million and $5 million.
