Break out the kleenex.

  1. i luv Triple zero heroes!!!!!

I personally want to be a call taker myself!

Thanks all those call/takers & services who
do such a great job in our community!!!!!!!
    Thanks

    P.S I’m ten years old

  2. Andy -scroll down to Feb 6th and a response from “anon” explains what happend to that guy. They have not shown that episode yet, I watch it every week and haven’t seen it.

  3. What ever happened to the eppisode that was advertising the show before it had started? The eppisode where the man got his foot caught in the train track, then the train came. Was that eppisode played, and I just missed it? I really wanted to know what happened to the poor guy?

  4. Excellent advice Lara, although it should have been shown on the episode. I’m sure there were important parts of that call that were ommited from the show. The production company edits each episode and I’m sure it was to make the story more appealing. They can only show a small amount in a short space of time and the re-enactments take up much of the episode, the call is only a small part of it.
I think it is a wonderful show and a great success for channel 7. I look forward to watching it every week, even though the personal stories make me cry. Thank god they each have a happy ending.

  5. Re the episode on 15th March… If your baby is born at home and for whatever reason, he or she is not breathing, please perform mouth to mouth! I can’t understand why the calltaker did not advise the father of the ‘blue’ baby on tonight’s show to do so.

    1) dry the baby (rub it’s back and feet vigorously with a dry cloth)
    2) give two effective breaths with your mouth over its nose/mouth, just with the air in puffed cheeks.
    3) feel for a pulse. If no pulse, use two fingers in the middle of the chest, just above the notch where the ribs meet in the middle, and push downwards – 15 compressions, then two breaths.

I find it strange that ch 7 would have omitted that part if the calltaker had instructed him to do so. All they showed was the calltaker asking “What’s happening now?” And “The ambulance is coming”. In that time, the father could have rescusitated the child. I think the show is an invaluable education tool, but only if the correct information is passed along to the public!

  6. This show “Triple Zero Heros” is an excellent teaching tool for children of all ages.
All Triple Zero Heros and also all emergency service staff need further acknowledgment and respect.

  7. OMG last nights show was so sad. I cried so much when that poor mum had to recussitate her little baby. Those two little girls were amazing and so smart to know to pick up the phone when their mum went into shock. And the mother was so smart to know what to do. I am off to do a first aid course now because of this show. Thank god that gorgeous little baby is o.k
I love this show so much and can’t wait to see what happens next week when Hayley goes into labour in the car. I will have the tissues ready…again!!!

  8. Well i wanted to watch this new show to see what it was like it sounded interesting, but unfortunately due to the fires in victoria we lost win, ten and prime. Im hoping they will repeat the first episode for thos who missed it cause of the bush fires……….

  9. I wouldn’t even have a pool with small children in the home, dangerous bl**dy things. If the house came with one, the first thing I would do is fence it, even before moving into the house. As for the mum who vacuumed and had a shower, she probably didn’t expect the labour to happen so quickly. I thought it was terrible how she kept referring to that beautiful baby girl as ” it ” though. It was a really great show and I am looking forward to next weeks episode (the nail gun accident)

  10. I would like to know how a child of 3 years can be underwater, or even fall into the water if parents are being diligent. I have a 3 year old and at no time is she anywhere near the pool, let alone able to be underwater for over 5 minutes!!!!!!! I was so angry at these parents, also at the mum who decided to vacuum and get really bad contractions and still choose to have a shower!!!! More fool you!!!

  11. Anon – I’m glad Robert is o.k. It’s good you pointed out that he has a disability also as he seemed very calm when he made the call. I personally would be screaming my head off if I was caught and a train was coming. I watched the show tonight and thought it was brilliant, even better than I thought it was going to be. I know it will be a great success. I am also glad it covers all emergency services which will make the stories more interesting to watch.
I agree with you that the call takers and dispatchers do a great job, but it is just a job!! They are no more a hero than the lady who resusitated her own child, which in this particular episode, after the child had already began breathing, the paramedic arrived, yet he took all the credit for saving the child. I also think the calltaker could have shown more compassion to the mother, she came across as heartless and abrupt. You guys do a great job,and I know that calltakers are supposed to show know emotion and instruct the caller, yet she could have used a kinder voice. I still think the heroes are the parents or everyday people who are not trained and yet pull themselves together under such traumatic circumstances to save a life. The birth story was a whole different thing and the emergency services did save the life of that baby girl!!

  12. To Ali and Emma,
As for the lovely man Robert he has a disability where he suffers seizures and also his hands are slightly up turned which meant he was unable to release himself from the tracks. He has a dog that has the ability to sense when he is about to have a seizure….. Fortunately for Robert that particular day he didnt have his dog with him otherwise he would have lost his beloved friend, pet and helper….Robert had two trains go over the top of him and he only managed to suffer very little injury basically a graze….I am calltaker at Police Communications, that night that Robert called…I was not the calltaker that took the call but the calltaker who did stayed on the phone with him until Police arrived to get his foot out of the tracks…
.Ali as for your friend my deepest sympathies….. As a calltaker I understand that you feel awful with how the advertisements are portraying the show, but unfortunately this is reality…
Triple Zero Heroes isn’t just Ambulance calls, Its Police and Fire too…..
This is stuff that not only calltakers have to deal with on a daily basis but the dispatchers who have to send the callers information across to the Police Fire Ambulance and SES, and the Emergency Services who have to attend the incident. Remember that all the Emergency Services that are available to us here in Australia have families they have to go home to and they put their lives at risk no matter who the company is that they work for all for the public’s safety….These people are the real heroes in my eyes….I have been blessed in been given an oportunity to work for such company and been given the chance to help those who really need the assistance they require.

  13. Ali – So sorry about your friend, that is terrible.
I saw that ad too. My husband and I had a conversation for the next 20 mins wondering what could have happened to that poor man. Did the train run him over? Did he get his foot out in time? So many questions, which made us want to watch the show to see what happened. It goes to show, the ads have shock value to make you want to watch and see that he got out ok.
The reality is, these are real life situations. People do get hit by trains, kids do drown in pools and women have babies. These ads are going to affect so many people who have lost loved ones in similar situations. If I feel I will personally be affected by a particular story, I will choose not to watch that episode. I do however feel that the show will also educate people what to do if faced with a similar emergency. Especially drownings and birth, heart attacks etc, which we could all be unexpectedly faced with at some stage.

  14. The advertisment for this show is horrid. One of the ‘sneak peeks’ consisted of a phone conversation between a phone operator and a man whose foot was stuck in the train tracks. It ends with him saying ‘The train is coming really fast’ and then the phone hangs up. My best friend was killed by a train 8 months ago, to have that real conversation to be allowed to screen on day time & night time tv is disgusting, I know several people who were deeply affected by this ad. It is fair enough that they want to make a show out of it, but do not bombard grieving people with such intense and emotionally scarring audio during the afternoon commercials.

  15. Hopefully this will educate the public and highlight the importance of the ‘non ambulance’ personel who are the Triple 000 calltakers. Their job is to gain vital information for ambulance crews and instill valuable instructions to caller in what can be a life threatening situation. Not sure about the ‘entertainment’ value though.

  16. Well said “Anon calltaker”
You guys are the backbone and the first response when a 000 call is made. You do a wonderful job in keeping the caller calm and relaying lifesaving information, until the emergency services arrive on site. It is because of you that many lives are saved. Triple Zero Heroes will show how important your position is to the watching Australian public through re creations of the emergency situation taking place. I personally commend you, in helping to save my daughters life, in our own personal emergency. You guys do a wonderful job and rarely get credit, where it is truely deserved. So thank you.

Hayley – I don’t think anyone would have a clue what to do in a breech delivery emergency on a busy freeway!!!! You girls did a wonderful job, and you have a healthy baby girl to show for it., and a wonderful story to tell at your daughters 21st birthday. Fremantle Media are a fantastic production company and the concept of this reality tv show is brilliant. I get all teary whenever the ads come on, so I can only imagine that the show itself will be sad but great to watch. The fact that all the stories have a happy outcome makes it even better. xx

  17. I would just like to say as a 000 calltaker myself that this show is not meant to be a tear jerker but rather to inform people on the reasons why Australians rely on Emergency Services such as Police Fire Ambulance and SES. We not only have to hear what the person is going through and feel some form of emotions towards them, but we also get abused by people who abuse the system!
We work to ensure people are getting the service that they have called specifically for, whether it be for Ambulance Service or for the smallest thing as a tree down in someones backyard for the SES to attend.
I myself would rather know I have people like those that I work with that actually care about the calls coming through and knowing that they are helping in getting these services to me!
All those who are against another reality TV show, just think before you dial 000 after you have bad mouthed those who work long days, public holidays, miss family events to help the public who need us!!!!! Get of your high horses!!!!

  18. it should start early febuary so keep your eyes peeled in the tv guide….. i can not thank fremantle media enough for giving me the the experience to thank the call taker and paramedics.. but also means so much to me that my friends and family now get the credit they deserve from being heros themself in this situation if it was me in their situation watching a family member of friend giving birth on the freeway breech no doctors i would not have a clue on what to do i would freak out. thanku oxoxox

  19. Hayley you are the lady giving birth on the ad for triple zero heroes!!! I cannot imagine how scared you must of been. The true heroes are you and your friend who made the 000 call. I cannot wait to see the show to see your story. It is great to know that you and your baby girl are o.k, and I agree, it is great to be able to thank the ambulance paramedics personally, who do such a wonderful job. I think this is going to be a fantastic show. Do you know when it will be aired on channel 7??

  20. well just to let you all know im sure this show will be very interesting as all these stories are real life situations and very amazing wat people can get through. and it gives us all a chance to acctually thank triple zero call takers and the paramedics as they rarely ever get to meet the people they help and get the praise they deserve… i will actually be on this show as giving birth to my daughter in my car feet first on the freeway and it was a rel honour to thank the people that helped me as if it wasnt for their guidence my daughter would not be here.. i myself would much rather prefer to watch real stuff on tv as it is simply amazing.. i thin u should all watch this show as i have heard a few amazing stories and would really be great to watch

  21. Give the show a chance….yes there are many similar…..but it is good to see that those people that work in the emergency services can watch a show about their field…believe me it is a hard work environment to be in…..good thing is it gives the public an understanding of what happens in the emergency services environment and it is possible that it will make emergency response from all agencies easier and especially for those that work in the 000 environment, as people can see how things happen

Good on you 7 and Fremantle Media for taking a chance on the show

  22. Nathan, if you read my previous comments you’ll note that I am not asking for factuals to be replaced with other dramas.

This being a forum for discussion of TV-related issues, I was merely expressing my opinion, which in this case was a dislike of factuals and an overwhelming sense of disbelief at how many viewers they pull in.

I agree with – you can’t please everyone. Evidently these types of shows resonate with a large portion of the population, but that doesn’t mean I have to watch them, like them or extol their validity in a TV schedule.
