Seven's new boss gives assurances that Samantha Armytage and Chris Bath are important to the network.

Seven news and current affairs boss, Peter Meakin has publicly reassured both Samantha Armytage and Chris Bath that they are considered high value to the network.

Armytage will fill in for Matthew White on Today Tonight and continue her Sunday slot alongside Andrew O’Keefe on Weekend Sunrise.

“She’s very well regarded at Seven and has come a long distance in a short time,” Meakin told news.com.au. “She’ll continue her newsreading duties and presenting at the weekend, but will fill in for Matt White on TT too.

“It’s certainly a rather large plate.”

He also addressed media reports that Chris Bath had discussions with Nine.

“I have spoken to Chris about that (story) and told her expressly she’s not to go anywhere,” Meakin said. “She’s the heir apparent to Ian Ross and it’s our job to sign her and keep her happy here.”

  3. The actual paragraph in Sydney Confidential today’s Tele about Chris Bath is:

    “I have spoken to Chris about that (story) and told her expressly she’s not to go anywhere,” Meakin said, less than seriously. “She’s the heir apparent to Ian Ross and it’s our job to sign her and keep her happy here.”

    The ‘less than seriously’ bit is interesting… On 2UE this morning, Steve Price asked Bath about her having her photo on page 3 of the Sunday paper – she said “Let’s not go there”. No further comment.

I agree with Richards comments about Sam,Seven should get her replace to Ian Ross whenever he does finally retire.I think by the time Ian does retire,seven will have too make tough choice between her and Chris Bath when that time arises.Peter Meakin saying today Chris is heir apparent to Ians job,but hey world of tv lots of promises are broken.Both talented and popular with viewers,will be interesting to see what happens with there careers in next few years .

  5. Samantha is a great talent. She is very intelligent and has a great personality, I think Seven would be crazy to let her go. Yes she is beautiful as well but her personality is what makes her very attractive. I’m glad she’s staying at seven.

    Now, if only she’d just marry me! LOL
