Tara Colegrave to host CBeebies

As the new kids channel CBeebies prepares to launch, former Nine science presenter Tara Colegrave will become channel host.

Former Nine Network science host Tara Colegrave has been named host for CBeebies, the new children’s channel from BBC Worldwide.

Colegrave presented on Nine’s Y? for four seasons before moving to the UK to pursue acting and teaching interests.

“As a teacher I know how important it is to encourage learning in a fun, interactive and stimulating way. This is why I’m so excited to be introducing Australian kids and their parents to the bright, entertaining world of CBeebies!” she says.

The ad-free channel launches on November 1st with content that encourages an interactive environment.

With the November 1 launch of CBeebies imminent, BBC Worldwide Channels Australia today unveils the channels new local host, Tara Colegrave.

Selected from a diverse group of prospective hosts, Tara is a qualified teacher with a double degree in BA Arts (Psychology) and Bachelor of Education. English born and raised in Brisbane, Tara has experience working in children’s television, as co-host of the Network Nine science show Y? for four seasons. After the show ended in 2002, Tara moved to the UK to pursue her teaching and acting careers.

To have found someone who has these attributes, as well as being a credible educator with great passion for her profession is a rare privilege. I hope that our young viewers and their parents find her fun and inspiring.”

Tara is very excited about her new role and the responsibility of lighting up little learners. “As a teacher I know how important it is to encourage learning in a fun, interactive and stimulating way. CBeebies, Britain’s number one children’s channel, is a brightly coloured world where pre-school children aged six and under learn through play. It’s an interactive environment where ideas grow into imaginative games and exploration opens new doors to language and learning.
