Cancer scare for Seven personality

Travel presenter Geoff Cox speaks about his cancer ordeal in the hope it will encourage other men to have check-ups.

Victorian travel presenter Geoff Cox is to begin chemotherapy after having a tumour removed from his bowel.

Speaking about his cancer ordeal, the Coxy’s Big Break host hopes it will encourage middle-aged men to have regular health check-ups.

“I had the colonoscopy on October 1 and they found this tumour the size of a cricket ball. They removed it and got it all, which is terrific,” he told the Herald Sun.

“Everything is now clean as a whistle and the scar is healing well.

“They have also scanned my lungs and liver, and they are clean.

Cox, who had completed shooting on the 2008 season of Channel 7’s Coxy’s Big Break just before diagnosis, will begin chemotherapy next month and hopes to get the all-clear from doctors in May.

His cancer scare follows other ordeals for TV presenters this year including Sam Newman and Dr. Harry Cooper.
