I think it was because they wanted to play all episodes in a row, and a early 2009 launch was the best way to do that. I’m still not sure why they only ordered 16 episodes instead of a full season.
ETA – oh wait the next season hasn’t started in the US, why?
Wow a season final that is actually real, just a pity they are 1/2 a season behind but you can’t have everything I guess.
