Amongst the new shows announced for Foxtel in 2009 is a local version of hair-styling reality series Shear Genius. The US version featured Aussie born Tabatha Coffey, whose blunt style won her enough interest for her own series Tabatha’s Salon Takeover. Will Foxtel bring her here for this?
It’s lucky for Foxtel that Nine decided against producing Million Dollar Salon, as it had planned earlier this year.
Andrew Denton’s produced 8 part satirical drama set in the advertising industry is titled 30 Seconds.
There is also the fifth series of FOX8’s Australia’s Next Top Model, to be hosted by Sarah Murdoch, a new action game show, The Phone, hosted by Justin Melvey, Peter Moon’s comedy Whatever Happened To That Guy, and an Australian version of the reality program designed to unearth a new boxer, The Contender Australia.
As previously reported FOX8 will also premiere the latest series from Buffy’s Joss Whedon, Dollhouse, the new comedy starring Australia’s Portia de Rossi, Better Off Ted, and further series of reality programs Project Runway Australia and Football Superstar.

Love this show, Hope it goes to dvd cause I’m not home on wednesday when it’s on.. Just love it. Though I was a Tabatha fan from the US one. My daughter and all her friend love this show. Please change it to Thursday or Friday nights so I can watch it 😀
No interest at all in watching people cut each others hair.
Million Dollar Salon? Sounds like a turd.

Lets hope it’s better than David Tench Tonight
Dollhouse is my major interest.
Australia always gives a show to anyone without talent. That explains why I can’t sell them a show! Looks like I might have to move abroad!
So erm, Denton’s half hour panel-type expose of the advertising industry (The Gruen Transfer) was such a hit, he’s decided to attack the industry from a dramatic angle too?
(Just reminded me of Stephen Fry’s “Absolute Power” (http://www.tv.com/absolute-power/show/22699/summary.html) .. what a great series. Pity there was only ever 12 eps of that .. Spin is dead, long live PR)
I didn’t mind Shear Genius, but I am a slave to reality TV and the worse the better. Jaclyn Smith was awful so that didn’t make things any better. How about Joh Baily or some hair/fashion type?
The US Shear Genius was bad enough…. one can only imagine how bad the Aussie version will be…..
