Numbers not up for Eddie

Phew. Somebody at Nine has spared us from a Bingo show hosted by Eddie.

We can probably be grateful for this. Eddie McGuire was hoping to front a prime-time bingo programme on Channel Nine.

But Nine isn’t going ahead with the idea.

The variety show was designed to promote gambling for Victoria’s new lottery operator, Intralot.

Promote gambling? Real smart idea. What about promoting entertainment?

“It was an idea. We explored it and threw around a couple of concepts, but, in the end, Channel 9 weren’t that keen to do it,” McGuire told the Herald Sun.

McGuire, who has barely been seen on screen all year, denied there had been any bad blood with network chiefs over the breakdown in talks.

  1. Why even attempt to copy a bad idea from 7? We didn’t need a Bingo show in the first place and we certainly don’t need two! I hope I never see Eddie on screen again.

    “What about promoting entertainment?”

Good one. That’s something all commercial networks need to take notice of.

  2. Is it April 1st ?

Sounds like another “mock publicity stunt Nine.
Whilst I agree with David about Eddie having talent, I have huge problem with Nine ‘warehousing people, paying them stacks and then unloading repeats after repeats on the public.

Here is another clue Nine- if “so called talent” has no showswith you, get rid of them and use money wisely.
Otherwise, we the public, we not return to your programmes.

  3. Since we’re on the subject of creating absurd ideas, why don’t they just promote binge drinking, and excessive drug use too? Eddie, they pay you that much to think? Back to Collingwood you go……..

  4. Thumbs up for channel 9 for not putting on this bingo show.

Would be good to see Eddie back on TV as that $4m is going to waste without him onscreen. Bring back Millionaire or put him back on the Footy Show. That $4m is already going to waste. Maybe he should be let go and sent to channel 7.

  5. I know this tactic. They come up with something absurd, float rumours, then deny it and try to make themselves appear better for refusing to do such a concept. After national bingo night, i seriously doubt they put any thought into actually trying to make this work. But that’s just my theory.

  6. and after all the attacking they did on 7’s national bingo night

why does ch9 bother with eddie almost everyone i know hates him and don’t watch any show that he has anything to do with.

stop paying him $$$$ every year to do nothing i doubt any other networks would pick him up.

  7. Imagine how many people could continue to be employed at Nine if they gave Eddie “4 million a year” McGuire, the flick!
No wonder Nine are languishing so far behind Seven!

  8. You have to be kidding??? No wonder nine’s programming is on the nose, at the same time considering garbage like this.
Eddie Everywhere, as for him, his time in front of a camera, is well and trully over.
