THIS IS YOUR LIFE, one of the most loved programs on television, returns to honour one of Australia’s favourite sporting sons this Thursday, November 13 at 8.30pm on Nine.

In the first of two This Is Your Life specials, Mike Munro will host an episode celebrating the achievements of one of the world’s most exciting sportsmen, Adam “Gilly” Gilchrist.

As a nine year-old boy, Gilchrist dreamed of representing Australia in cricket, which he proudly did as a wicketkeeper for more than 10 seasons before announcing his retirement from the game he loves earlier this year. Gilchrist holds records in both test cricket and one day internationals and is acknowledged as the greatest wicketkeeper-batsman in the history of the game.

A host of celebrities and surprise guests will feature in the special edition of This Is Your Life to honour this Australian sporting legend. It promises buckets of tears and laughter, with tributes from a score of “Gilly’s” closest friends.

The Gilchrist tribute starts with a hilarious sting that places the unsuspecting guest of honour in a car journey he will never forget.

The second special edition of This Is Your Life – on Thursday, November 20 – will feature another great Australian achiever who has forged a brilliant career worthy of national acclaim. This famous name is among the most popular personalities that viewers have ever asked to see on This Is Your Life.

Over the years, This Is Your Life has created some of television’s most memorable moments by filling each chapter with spontaneous revelation of someone’s rich personal history. The result is a highly charged hour as we watch guests of honour overcome with emotion, often at their most vulnerable in front of a national audience.

With the return of This Is Your Life, The Strip will continue to screen at 10.30pm from this Thursday night.

  1. i was inquiring in regards to see if Angry Anderson from thursdays show was dressed by anyone?? i would really like to find out if he was because i really lobed his short and would lkie to order one. thanks.

  2. Mike Monro special – he’ll walk out and start then suddenly bert newton or someone will walk out and the lights will change and they’ll start on him

  3. “dead-set legend”

I can’t help thinking about that “Oz Brothers” skit from The Late Show. Two fat yobbos who idolised David Boon. That was their catch-phrase for the man – “Dead-set Legend”.

Actually, Boony isn’t a bad idea. I’d watch to see him tell the story about the “52” 🙂

  4. More Z list celebs get honoured or maybe a ‘soap actor or someone that tries out for Idol,BB or even Taken Out.

How about someone that deserves to be honoured on TV – A charity worker or the garbo that does his job for 20 years.

  5. this show just won’t die.

every time you think its dead it rises from the grave. good to see ch7 not giving it another lifeline.

I was thinking about that the other day: is there a chance that something was lost in translation and ch7 is airing This is Your Laugh (AOK show) i know that this rumour started because people thought that 7 were looking for an audience for TIYLife but AOk show is looking for an audience now.

    ???????

  6. Considering how most of the people featured on TIYL this year have been ridiculously young (Lleyton Hewitt, Shannon Noll) I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s someone else in that age group….or possibly even younger…….
