Seven appoints daytime programmer

Seven appoints a new daytime programmer. Maybe we can look forward to the end of MASH reruns?

Seven has appointed a new Programmer for its daytime schedules, in Roosje Scott.

Scott, who joined the network in 2001, has previously been Program Services Manager and has overseen 7HD schedules.

The daytime war, which is fiercely prized by TEN, has seen the addition of The View and Ellen on Nine as a way of building a consistent demographic. Susie has also been dropped from WIN Television in Adelaide and Perth daytime schedules.

Seven’s current daytime schedule from 6am to 6pm includes Sunrise, The Morning Show, movies, plus repeats of Desperate Housewives, Moonlighting, some kids’ TV, News, Deal or No Deal -and even MASH. Can we look forward to the end of the 1980’s comedy? Sure it’s a classic show, but it’s nearly 2009.

A little sprucing up would be good for competition.

Press Release:
Channel Seven today announced the appointment of Roosje Scott to the position of Daytime Programmer. Roosje takes over the management of Seven’s daytime on-air schedule after successfully managing Seven’s Programming Services and Seven HD schedules.

Channel Seven values its strong daytime schedule, said Director of Programming and Production Tim Worner;

“Roosje will further develop our focus on daytime as we look towards 2009. A strong daytime line-up plays an important role in the success of our entire schedule and we look forward to building our daytime audience share in the coming year.”

Roosje has been a strong contributor to Seven’s programming department since she joined the team in 2001 and in 2004, was appointed to the role of Program Services Manager.

“Roosje was the perfect choice for this new role. Roosje is another example of a Seven person developing within the company and being rewarded for their valuable work,” Mr Worner said.

  1. What’s happening to Seven ?? You’ve virtually ruined the best on Any Network IE:All Saints. & Now , you’re ruiningit’s intended replacement Packed TTR’s I Just Dont bother watching anymore !! TF

  2. There are so many classic UK and US shows that aren’t available on DVD and/or that haven’t been on TV for years and years. I’m not a big fan of M*A*S*H* but I think it’s wearing a bit thin (maybe even on fans) because it’s just been on for so long. There’s even lots of great classic Aussie shows they could screen. Aussie TV was much better then.

  3. M*A*S*H you can never get rid of- its timeless in its comedy.

what would you rather watch- a comed y from the 80’s or People talking about crap thats 100 years old? not very hard is it.

  4. Any chance one of the networks could appoint a programmer for the midnight to 4am slot?

Some of us out here are just a teeeeensy bit over Proactiv Solution.

    Ta.

Oh, and agreed with those above about MASH. But then, I never got what was meant to be funny about that show. The theme tune, to me, has always been a change-the-channel alarm.

  5. Can’t Seven just think of a new game show for the 5pm slot. I remember watching decent shows such as All Star Squares and Hot Streak years ago. Also one called Concerntration.Would be nice to have something else at 5 that isn’t Mash.

  6. Someone has to mash MASH. But seriously it’s been in that slot for far too long and although it’s a classic comedy, it stopped being funny a long time ago.

It’s like hearing a song that you like on radio and then growing to hate it because it’s been overplayed a million times.

  7. The first smart thing that 7 should do is fix up 5:30, in Queensland. Deal can be shafted to 5. It often gets beaten by local programming. People these days are either tuning into Extra and then watch 7 News or tuning into Extra and watching Nine News. If 7 puts a alternative, it may aid their ratings, it may crash and burn, but at least it is a attempt at fighting the knight with a dragon.

  8. it’d be great if seven could get the rights to maury povich, jerry springer or tyra banks show. bit of trashy telly. and some of those other big american shows that air on foxtel like extreme makeover home edition

  9. No seriously, I’d really love to see After MASH. I don’t think its ever been repeated, and still hasn’t been released on DVD. Sure, I also hear that it’s terrible, but I can live with that.

  10. It was Rupert Murdoch who once famously instructed Ten’s programmers to never let go of the rights to M*A*S*H (remember this sitcom which ran originally from 1972-83 was a rerun staple on ten until 1994)

No Seven has been passed the torch (through their 90’s Fox Output deal) but really you can check out M*A*S*H several times per day on Fox Classics – do Seven have nothing else they can show?

  11. Seven need first run programs in the afternoon to counter Nine and Ten esp as Ten win daytime despite the poor ratings of David and Kim.

Will we see Martha Stewart? Bonnie Hunt? Regis & Kelly? Rachael Ray?

  12. I’d rather they put the 80s Comedy on another channel in prime time, sure I could get the DVD’s but a random 80s comedy or action show would be fun to watch if they mixed it up.

I like just being given something to watch rather then having to pick it 😛

  13. I hope they boot Mash. Can’t stand that show and I don’t care that it was the most watched program 20 years ago…get with the times!! The Moonlighting and DH repeats are good additions though

  14. Yes please,as you say it’s a classic but please something different!! Something like Home Improvement or even another classic like Get Smart would be great.

  15. does anyone know how m*a*s*h rates in comparison to antiques, news, and ABCkids shows.

i would be all for the chopping of this, its had a long run, we must be nearly at the end? maybe replace it with a 90’s sitcom, shouldv’e kept will and grace

just so long as its not replaced with a bad acting american soap
