When Christina met Oprah

Christina Applegate's interview with Oprah Winfrey on her double mastectomy will air next week on Channel TEN.

Christina Applegate’s interview with Oprah Winfrey will air next week on Channel TEN.

The star of Samantha Who talks to Winfrey about her decision to remove both of her breasts, after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

“It’s hard to live quietly,” she says. “I went through five weeks of work without telling anyone that this was going on in my life.”

Applegate says the dramatic decision to have a bilateral mastectomy came on really fast.

“It was one of those things that I woke up and it felt so right,” she says. “It just seemed like, ‘I don’t want to have to deal with this again. I don’t want to keep putting that stuff in my body. I just want to be done with this.’ … I was just going to let them go.”

The episode airs at 1pm Monday November 24 on TEN.

  1. Craig, Channel Ten plays Oprah Winfrey 52 weeks a year, unlike in the US where the show takes several breaks during the year. That’s why Ten “banks” the episodes so that when the show goes into repeat mode in the US, here in Australia we will still have new episodes to watch.

  2. Thanks for that David, I’ll set my recorder.

BTW why can’t ch10 air double eps to catch up? We are currently some 10 weeks behind the US.

Also has Seven said when (or if) Samantha Who is coming back any time soon?
