AOK comments on big night out

Andrew O'Keefe reckons he never set out to deliberately offend anyone after a big night out.

Andrew O’Keefe has commented on media stories, confirmed by the Nine Network, that video footage shows him intoxicated outside a Prahran nightclub.

O’Keefe did not deny the incident, telling the Herald Sun, “I thrive on hard work and when the work is done I like to gather everyone together and celebrate, as we have so much to celebrate from what has been a very successful year.

“Let me reassure everyone that I am a family man, and take that very seriously, and would never set out to deliberately offend anyone.”

Seven didn’t comment on talk of any “hush money” payment for the footage, said to be $25,000, merely saying, “Andrew is fabulous. He’s a great bloke and it’s Christmas. We love him.”

  1. Didn’t think much of DO before the video – thought he was another presented with no normal behavior until I saw the Video. Not that I condone that kind of behaviour… (drunk on the street outside a nightclub. But we have all done it at some stage in our lives and to me DO seems cooler than ever – he now has a cheeky side to him that I find sexxxy and cheeky and real. I like watching him now on TV and will watch him more often – he seems normal and allot of fun. Love him to bits now. And anyone that tries to put him down about this behaviour doesn’t have a life… Get over yourself and live life.

  2. Reminds me back in NZ a few years ago when the media caught a one time All Black player Xavier Rush asleep outside a store one morning, sleeping off the night before. Again not high on drugs, didn’t hurt anyone so what’s the big deal? As some pointed out, would they have rather he had driven home?

I don’t love Andrew as a tv personality, but certainly the man has got no reason to explain his actions.

  3. well i have never thought much of AOK, to me he was just another tv personality. one thing i did notice was that he is probably the most natural and human on screen as opposed to the plastic, fake types. shelly craft, natalie grueleski, jen hawkins, andrew G.

all this issue says is that he is an imperfect being, just like all of us. the fact that he is able to drink and have a good time just makes him more australian. give the guy a break.

this is just about rival companies seeking a new low to take each other down.

  4. i still don’t get why this is a big deal. so what if he got drunk, it dosent look like he broke any laws.

the footage in the hands of an ACA reporter, through all their bias, uninformed, unbalanced, desperate attempts at a story can ruin a career. and the guy hasn’t even done anything wrong. so i guess a small sum of $25,000 (not that much for a huge business) is money well spent.

  5. The Nine Network have responded with : “Yeah….but he was drunk and…It’s scandalous and…. he made Westfield Gift Cards bad and, well… Think of the children, it’s not fair!!!”

  6. He’s not the first person to offend someone by getting drunk at a Xmas party. I wish people would just lighten up. He didn’t drive a car or hurt anyone, so what’s the big deal? So typical of the bouncer to be looking at how to make a buck rather than actually doing their job of protecting punters. They really are fine human beings. We all remember what happened to David Hookes at the hand of a Melbourne bouncer.
