Day of reckoning for Lloyd

ABC journalist Peter Lloyd will learn his fate today over drug charges he faces before a court in Singapore.

Arrested ABC foreign correspondent Peter Lloyd is due to appear before Singapore’s subordinate court today

He will discover his fate after being caught earlier this year in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine or “ice” in Singapore.

Prosecutors will make their case before Lloyd’s lawyer makes a plea for mitigation. A panel of judges will then retire briefly before they deliver a verdict and hand down their sentence.

Lloyd is expected to plead guilty to some, if not all, of the remaining charges relating to possession of drugs and drug paraphenalia.

Lloyd said he became an infrequent user of ice because it eased the recurrent nightmares he was suffering due to post-traumatic stress disorder.
