Extra host leaves Nine

Jillian Whiting, host of the successful Extra programme on QTQ9, is leaving the network following a shake-up.

Extra presenter Jillian Whiting has quit QTQ9 after a shake-up of the afternoon programme on the weekend.

Whiting who has been with Nine for over ten years has been hosting the show for for the past two years.

When asked why she was leaving Extra she said: “You’ll have to ask Channel 9. All I can say is it was a surprise to me but I’m happy with my decision and I’m so ready for a holiday.”

Nine news director Lee Anderson said Whiting had been offered another role in the newsroom, but would not elaborate on what it was.

The move follows presenter Heather Foord, who retired from the weekday newsdesk being tipped to replace Whiting as host of Extra.

“I had a choice to make and I’ve chosen my family.” Whiting said yesterday.

  2. Leaving to start feeding herself something other than one lettuce leaf a day? She’s been wasting away in front of my eyes for months. She’s attractive, but the starving look isn’t a good one.
