Rowe freelances with Seven News

A Seven spokesperson says there's no boning of Jessica Rowe, and she remains freelance with Seven News.

Reports of her ‘boning’ were premature…

Further to media stories today that Seven has let go Jessica Rowe, Seven has sought to clarify her position.

Initial reports claim her contract was not renewed, with much reference to the now-legendary ‘boning’ word.

A Seven spokesperson today told TV Tonight, “She continues her freelance newsreading role with us (as she has over the past year). She’s reading Seven News next week and reads news on Sunrise for three weeks in January.”

You have to feel for Rowe, who in the midst of media stories clearly just wants to get on with the job but without a regular role and media quick to pounce it’s hard to shrug off the stain of her association with ‘that’ word.

So just to clarify again: Jessica Rowe remains freelance with Seven for now…

  2. Okay so she can be very annoying but she has suffered so much grief at the hands of being a public personality.

    Stay behind the camera so you can have a more peaceful worklife.

  5. bless, I like Jessica, Im glad they are hanging onto her, the poor woman, shes scrutinised more than any other news reader I can remember, Seven would be well served to hang onto Jessica and avoid letting people like Monique Wright anywhere near a newsdesk!!

  6. I’m not sure what the appeal is of reading the News. There’s not much to it. Not that I’d be any good, to pick a random example, but even so it seems pretty dull and repetitious to me. Must be the money.

    For some reason I can’t easily pin down, I’ve never found Jessica Rowe very appealing, in any role she’s had. But I do not exactly typify the Australian viewing audience, so my opinion counts for little.

    i guess they can’t put her in a solid position because she is pregnant and will have to take time off somewhere along the line.

    i hope they hold onto her because she would be a perfect fit for a blue sky, happy, inspirational show (which seem to be popular) in the future
