Survivor voted out from Nine?

Survivor: Gabon has been promised by Nine for summer but it won't be following Survivor: Micronesia.

Survivor: Gabon has been promised by Nine for summer but it won’t be following Survivor: Micronesia.

It would have been the logical place for the show to appear, but Nine will return unaired episodes of Monster House on Monday December 29 and movies on Tuesday December 30.

A week later it’s more of the same.

Any hope that it might be moving to 9HD, given the series is filmed in high definition for the first time, also seems premature.

And while we’re on the subject of Jeff Probst, has he ever done a photo shoot where he doesn’t look exactly the same as the last one?

  1. Guess i shouldn’t be hoping for a fast-tracked Survivor 18.
For those who haven’t watched Gabon yet i it has been a great season! All the episodes you can find on youtube as well 😛 Can’t wait to find out who wins this weekend!

  2. The point is that thr ratings don’t mean a thing at this time of year so I’m afraid Channel 9 will care even less.I just hope we get to see Gabon very soon – we too have watched Survivor since the start and love every series.  We haven’t  done the download thing yet – but boy it’s tempting.C’mon Ch 9 – Give us Gabon over summer.  Please.

  3. the show will be back people….chillax. I don’t really think this is a fair article anyway. Just cause nine haven’t scheduled it in its normal timeslot in 3 weeks!!! doesn’t mean the show has been axed. It has got good ratings and if anything it will get shown earlier. Sheessshhh

  4. My family have been watching survivor since it started way back when. Come on Nine wake up. Survivor will rate far better than M/House. For crying out loud.. who’s running the place these days?

  5. Just curious, from where do people download survivor? It seems like
a lot do it but it beats me from where. I’ve gone to the CBS website but it tells
    me that video is unavailable.
    Cheers

  6. The networks have all played games with the viewers this year and it is beyond a joke. I keep up with the schedule much more than most people would and even I have missed the odd episode here and there.

Survivor is one of those shows that could be a solid 7:30pm show if it sat in the one timeslot and same day as people would watch.
The fact that our TV programming is dictated by a ratings system that captures only a tiny slice of the “real” audience means that nothing stands a chance anymore.

If networks had acted so fast to cut in previous years there is a treasure trove of shows that we would never have seen make it onto TV.

My message to network guys- If you believe in shows, are willing to pay the cash, then plug them to death…….at least give them a chance to be seen – Rome was not built in a day.

It is impossible to get into a show that moves around, drops off the list and then comes back at a new time and day with zero advertising (aka Prison Break).

  7. Survivor actually rates really well in that timeslot, so this is a really poor decision made on Nine’s behalf.

Monster House won’t rate at all. It was a flop.

I can’t believe people who work at Nine are such imbeciles!! God a 12 year old could run the network better.

  8. Jake makes a funny (but true) comment, referring to Nine and I quote
    “That makes no sense”
We have now found Nine’s new slogan for 2009 –
We are the home of nonsense – Our progamming makes no sense.
    Commonsense found elsewhere

P.S. Jeff Probst hasn’t changed over the years, maybe he is David Tench in disguise !

  9. Monster House just about sums up Nine’s incompetence as a commercial TV station. I’ll be downloading Survivor (and most other shows) in the New Year.

2008 was a horrible year for Australian FTA TV. It’s almost as if with the transition to digital broadcasts, the quality of programming stumbled drunkenly into the gutter and passed out.

  10. And by the way, I don’t want it to move to 9HD because then I wouldn’t be able to see it. There are still those of us out there who don’t have HD TVs, who rely solely on our old tube TVs.

  11. it would only make sense that nine show this on normal nine tv straight after micronesia considering its success in the 10.30/11PM timeslot. Maybe nine is moving it forward to 9.30 in the place of Fringe or something but haven’t released that info yet.

  12. Nine probably realises pretty much everyone who watches Survivor routinely downloads it these days.

Monster House. They seriously think it’ll rate better than Survivor? There’s idiocy, and then there’s idiocy…

    And Jeff? He’s a robot 🙂
