TEN pilot leaked on YouTube?

A new comedy pilot "This Week in Shorts" starring Tom Gleeson and Heath Franklin appears to have been leaked online.

Footage of a new pilot comedy show starring Tom Gleeson and Heath Franklin appears to have been leaked online.

Clips from This Week in Shorts show comedians Gleeson and Franklin discussing recent news topics from behind a desk, interspersed with recorded clips and guests including Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, Andrew Bolt and Dan Illic (The Ronnie Johns Half Hour).

A small studio audience adds a ‘live’ feel to the comedy show, believed to be in the works for Network TEN.

Gleeson and Franklin take aim at the film Australia, Gordon Ramsay’s affair, gay marriage, Ben Cousins, George Bush, and QANTAS -with Gleeson whacking the airline dressed up as a pinata.

There are five clips of the pilot on YouTube

  1. Its a pilot. C’mon! Whether it was leaked or not on purpose, doesnt affect the content.

I think it has promise, which is what pilots are for. They’re not finished products, and they’re not meant to be reviewed.

If they did leak this on purpose they’re idiots because why do you want to show people a pilot? Saying that, I think Franklin and Gleeson are funny, or come across funny on TV. They look like they’re having fun. Ive seen Gleeson on GNW a few times

I agree about the panel bit. Boring. Been done before.

Reminds me a bit of Roy and HG, in a good way

  2. ‘Doug’ & ‘STE’. TEN haven’t stated that it was or wasn’t leaked. That’s David’s wording. Bit harsh to get stuck into them for something they aren’t guilty of saying.

‘Honesty’, I thought the same thing ’til I watched it and thought it was pretty good.

I was a massive fan of the Ronnie Johns Half Hour Variety Show so I’m pretty happy to see something in the works for this.

Tom Gleeson doesn’t do it for me, but they seem to have pretty good chemistry so i’m willing to overlook my dislike for the ‘ranga’

  3. Love the ep on mates marriage! And when Dan goes to US! I love it… i would watch it! About time 10 started adding more shows that dont involve people sitting in a room doing nothing.

  4. This show looks funny as, Channel Ten stick it on and get rid of friends And some other shows you guys have. And get your ratings back up Channel Ten with some prized shows like this.

    cheers

  5. If this was leaked, TEN would have Youtube remove it, so that proves another thing 🙂

Love the comment on the “persons” Youtube page. ” Thanks for the ‘leak’ network ten, I now know well in advance to not bother watching this. “

  6. Nothing really new here.

Like most other comedy/variety shows, its far too scripted with all participants having planned what they are going to say and when they are going to say it – ala Spicks and Specks, Good News Week, Out of the Question etc. etc.

    Verdict – No Deal.

  7. Not too bad at all, especially for a pilot. I think the more Aussie shows the better- they don’t all have to be masterpieces. If ten keeps this for next year along with GNW and Rove, it will well and truly be the home of news-based comedy.

  8. Here’s hoping this pilot doesn’t see the light of day on channel 10. Not only is it not funny but it seems too similar to Good News Week which is premised upon a satirical and humerous commentary upon the previous weeks events. Good News Week is brilliant, this is not.

  9. Not too bad…I think it has promise. It’s obviously not going to be a massive hit, but could do okay on a thursday or friday night. Clearly influenced by GNW and Chaser.

  10. This is woeful. Exactly the same brand of beige that Australia is content with pumping out. Take some risks!!! The world doesn’t need another panel discussion show about film, tv, news etc. It’s a tired format, both predictable and limited in scope.

Oh wait… they’re wearing shorts! I take it all back, that’s gold Jerry – Gold!

  11. I think leaked is probably not the correct word there, 10 would have put it up there to garner interest.

Its not too bad, im still waiting for an aussie version of daily show/colbert this came close the sh*tlist is close to colberts ‘on notice’ but its not quite in a news format.
