America’s FOX Network is developing a dramedy about four female New Yorkers who also happen to be werewolves.
Bitches -yep, that’s the title- hails from feature writer Michael Dougherty (X Men 2, Superman Returns) and Warner Bros. TV. Four women live their New York lives while also dealing with their lycanthropy. The premise asks, how can you date and fall in love with someone when you’re a werewolf and you start to turn when you’re aroused?
TV writing duo Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts (Pushing Daisies, Women’s Murder Club) have come on board to supervise Dougherty. The two also will serve as executive producers alongside Dougherty if the project, described as a quirky urban fairy tale, goes to series.
“Bitches” continues the werewolf theme from Dougherty’s recent horror flick “Trick ‘r Treat.”

Werewolves – cool.
Chicks & their problems – not so much.
I’m kinda torn.
Irrespective of how well or badly this fares in the US market, you know what will happen to it here.
As with any show with even a hint of fantasy or science fiction, it will be promoted very heavily for months in advance of screening, shown for about two weeks to disastorous ratings, switched to a late night time slot for two weeks, then disappear forever, perhaps only to be seen on Pay TV or the digital channels that we country folk cannot access.
Sadly, the Australian viewer cannot even dream anymore of such television series finding a long term home on free to air television.
how wonderfully absurd 😀
no it is sex and the city. it’s the sequel movie.
and if i remember the tv show correctly weren’t all the females characters dogs.
Whether ‘Bitches’ turns out the next big thing or totally lame, it certainly sounds intriguing. Say what you like about Hollywood, but American networks are constantly in search of new concepts in their bid to stay ahead of the competition.
I will give it a go, but a lot of shows that sound good to me (like Blood Ties and Smallville) I don’t end following because its so damn corny, and then they try to “smut it up” and it just makes it even worse….
I think this will go the way of Moonlight. Then again Fox has kept that awful Terminator show on for years, so who knows? I just hope Dollhouse is a winner, I’d hate for it to get the boot after 1 season like Firefly.
A New take on sex and the city???
Can’t imagine it being too ad friendly.
the title will certainly get it a lot of attention, no doubt some american conservative groups will have a cry and cause a fuss, which will only serve to promote it.
i usually like werewolf genre stuff but the aroused bit rather than a full moon sounds a bit off, i can see many people cringing when they try to portray that, it could be quite disasterous.
sounds like ‘Charmed’ crossed with ‘Sex & The City’
Absurd concept
Love it!
