Where is Damages going please?

The suspense is killing some of us. When can we see the second season of Damages and on which network?

So far there has been no clear indication of who is going to bring Australian viewers the highly-anticipated new season of Damages. Nine hasn’t announced it on its 2009 list, and there is a high likelihood it will end up on Foxtel.

The first series was dynamite to those who stuck with it, and the second season premieres in the US on January 7.

“I think American writers are coming up with some very exciting stuff,” Glenn Close says of her storyline. “I think she is a really juicy character and, for some reason, people like to see me play this [kind of] character.”

In season two, Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne), Patty’s ambitious young protégé is out to get her boss, who she believes tried to have her killed at the end of season one.

“I don’t know yet that she knows that I tried to have her killed,” Close tells ET, “but what happens when I find out!”

Joining Close this season is her Big Chill co-star, William Hurt.

“It is really great because we have authentic history,” she says. “I have known him for a long time. A bunch of us started together in New York in the ’70s.”

Damages writers have previously acknowledged audiences struggled with the layered storytelling of the first series -it lost ground in both the US and Australia as a result. But there were others (including this writer) that thought it was a highlight of 2007.

  1. Yay. I am so happy it’s going to foxtel as I can record it to my IQ and watch it when I feel like. I watched the first ep on nine but because the next week Prison break season 3 started I didn’t watch it, but when the dvd came out I got it and was instantly hooked.

  2. Oh please don’t let Damages go to Foxtel. Even if it’s on at 10.30 or 11.30 I don’t care, so long as I can tape it. If it’s on Foxtel I’ll never see it again.

  3. The first season of Damages was great – really something complex and refreshingly different from all the other procedurals, etc. Glenn Close is terrific like she was in her stint on The Shield, and the supporting cast was great, too. Not a fan of Rose Byrne’s frowning style of acting, however.

I’ll wait for the DVD of Season 2, or download the show. I’m not waiting or wanting to see this on FTA. Nine probably sold the rights to this show to Foxtel with all the others, so screw ’em.

  4. I did follow Damages through it’s first season on Nine. Its dissapointimg that it may not be airing on FTA. I will have to wait for the dvd to come out then.

  5. Why is it that overseas there is more and more High Definition and here there is less and less? All those people who have spent big money for home theatre and big-screen HDTVs should feel very p….d off.

Foxtel issued a press release stating they had bought season 2.

That (presumably) means it will end up on one of the Foxtel O&O channels: Fox8, W etc.

Showcase is owned by showtime – seperate company. Although Foxtel could on sell it to Showtime.

I agree – Damages is one of my fave shows on TV.

  7. I’d suggest downloading it, as you shouldn’t hold your breath for Nine to screen it, not unless it’s at a 11 – 11 .30 pm timeslot. In fairness to Nine, Damages rated very poorly in North America (since it is a cable TV show) and other overseas countries including Aus, plus it’s likely to only be a 3 season show, unless season 2’s North American ratings improve.
