A Current Advertisement

Bow bow. ACA tries to pass off an entire Nine Network promotion as a stand-alone story.

leila-mckinnonHonestly.

Is there no low networks won’t stoop to in the push to plug their new shows?

A Current Affair tonight promised “an exclusive preview” of Underbelly.

It was an ad.

All ACA did was replay the promo that has already been screened by Nine.

No editorial, no narration, no interview. It wasn’t even an ‘exclusive’, Leila, we’d seen it all before.

Which journalists and researchers produced this ‘story’? Zip.

To make matters worse, another Underbelly ad then ran during the following commercial break.

It’s bad enough that our 6:30 shows get into promotions for their own network. But how does running an entire advertisement  possibly pass for current affairs? It was disappointing given the show started well by covering the biggest news story of the day, a tragedy in Melbourne.

Lift. Your. Game.

  1. It used to be a bad timeslot on Foxtel but now you can either watch fake current affairs on Murphy Brown (111) or real current affairs on The Daily Show with John Stewart (Comedy)
