Gone: Out of the Blue

Uh oh. There's only one more week of TEN's late night soap remaining, with the late News returning to 10:30pm.

This isn’t going to go down well…

There’s only one more week of Out of the Blue scheduled on TEN after it announced its TEN Late News with Sports Tonight would be returning to its 10:30pm home.

The last episode is currently slated for Thursday January 15.

When TEN slated the show at 10:30pm there was considerable scepticism about such a move, but TEN defended that summer skewed well to late night viewing. To its credit, it has garnered some devoted fans who love the show, but on Monday it had slipped to 221,000 viewers. Those fans are likely to be incensed by TEN pulling the show, particularly while we’re still out of ratings.

If TEN is planning to reschedule the show (and it probably will at some point in time) so far it hasn’t indicated where. The show also has local quota value to TEN, but only if played between 5-11pm.

Returning TEN Late News to 10:30pm from Tuesday January 20 does mean Letterman fans will get Dave back at the earlier 11:15pm instead of 11.45pm.

Out of the Blue struggled on the BBC before getting a repeat season on Channel Five.

  1. i am so upset about gone: out of the blue. i love watching this show every time it is on i dont go anywhere. i cancell plans to stay home and watch it. it’s a fantastic show i even have my partner into it. it would be a complete shame for it not to have anyother season and release it on DVD. hope you change your mind and have us all happy again.

  2. My mother and I really enjoyed this series, so much so that we watched it again when it was shown on Fiver. We were so disappointed when the timeslots were changed as we cannot record digital, then it was moved to the ridiculous timeslot of 6.45 A.M. so we’ve missed the last few weeks of screening. There is so much crap on TV and then a good programme gets sidelined. I wish this was available on DVD and I also wish someone would make a second series. The networks can hardly complain of low viewing figures when they put programmes on at such inappropriate times; considering how much rubbish is on tv these days, you’d think they’d put something good in a prime time slot. As far as I’m concerned, when the digital switchover comes to my area, they can shove it, I’ll stick with my DVDs and video because there is very little on tv worth watching.

  3. @James. The episode you are talking about is the last episode in series 1. The BBC will not be making a series 2. Fiver have bought the rights to the show and are re-running series 1. We are hoping that if it performs well, Five could be pursuaded to make a second series, but if they don’t we’ll never know what happens in the bar.

  4. I cant understand nadder, what the how is happeing 2 out of the blue , we all watched 2 the point when sam went 2 the bar and gate crashed the wedding reception why is it on channel 5 wright at the begging of the episode ,s that means we got 2 waight for 125 episodes until we get back 2 what happend 2 every one in the pub ……….

  5. bev – only one series of 130 eps was commisioned by the bbc. the final episode was shown on bbc2 on 29 jan. series 1 is now being repeated in the uk on fiver, the bbc won’t order another series but there is a slight possibility channel 5 will depending on the repeat ratings.

  6. please can you tell when out of the blue will come back to us. iv,e watched it every day on bbc1 then it got changed to bb2 im gutted where the hell as this programme gone to? i love this programme please help!!!

  7. This is so typical of channel 10 think to Veronica Mars, even Beverly Hills 90210(granted that was pretty crap – but give it more than three weeks before changing timeslots).
I am not ever going to bother with a channel 10 series again.

The thing with Out of the Blue is that it is addicitve and sucks you in, sure the acting is not going to win any awards – but what soap would! I so looked forward to closing my day with a little dose of soap. The ideal timeslot would have been at 6pm, imagine the soap lovers dream – Out of the Blue, Neighbours then Home and Away. It seems channel 10 was desperate for this show to be unsuccessful as they didn’t give it a real chance – less that a third of the season.

I am desperate to see who killed philby but don’t want to check it out just incase channel 10 do the right thing and bring it back. I feel that with a better time slot it would do really well. Why the high rating? it is no different to the other soaps

Its a real shame but we should have all predicted it – and maybe channel 10 should blame themselves for a lack of viewers as soooooo many people have a lack of faith in their programmers to keep shows on the ait – that they didn’t bother to tune in.

Its a sad day when the UK has more faith in Aussie shows than we do, at least they got to see the whole season

  8. I can’t believe I taped every single episode, watched it when kids had a nap after lunch, and now I don’t even get to find out who the killer is. Channel Ten- you suck ! Thats the last straw after putting B & B on at 6pm.

  9. Bugger, it was just about to get to the good parts. I only just found out who the killer was a few weeks ago and was really looking forward to seeing that all unfold. I should have known better than to get invested in any new show on FTA. 🙁

  10. Hey Kristel (Or Anyone Really),

Can you point me in the direction of the Out of The Blue Facebook Group please I can’t seem to find it 🙁

    Cheers,

    Dak

  11. Wow I can’t believe they’re getting rid of it :(should’ve known.

Thanks Kristel! I’ve been busting to find somewhere that recaps the eps for ages its been nearly impossible to find anywhere. I couldn’t even get a reply on here lol.

And I also love the Theme song as well. I obtained a copy ofthe UK Eps 1-30 and loved how the Opening Scenes are different. I prefer the UK ones because youget to see the cast in it properly…

I hope they bring it back since there’s no way of watching the eps now unlike Home & Away & Neighbours which are on Youtube…

    Dak

  12. I didn’t watch it right from the start but have enjoyed the episodes that I have seen.Ashame Channel Ten have done this!!! Does anyone know if it will come out on dvd eventually?? I would certainly buy it.

  13. I love seeing the footage shot around Manly in Sydney and even like the theme song.

Channel 10 please re-think this!! Could you show it on the weekends maybe?

    Please!!

  14. the thing that turned me off this show was…TEN (well sth X in regional anyway) continual pumping of the same promo…even when the show was on air for a month….. i even chnaged channels when that promo came on…. good bye and welcome back Sandra…can’t read an intro without a mistake Sully and woo hoo for letterman at a decent hour…..
