Recycling washed up teen idols…
Chris Atkins, David Chokachi and Jeremy Jackson in a show produced by Scott Baio? That's reality.
Uh oh. You know television has hit rock bottom when former teen idols are producing shows about other washed up idols.
But that’s what Scott Baio (Happy Days) and Jason Hervey (The Wonder Years) are up to with their latest show for VH1 in the US: Confessions of a Teen Idol.
And they’ve managed to con seven one-time stars into living in a house, reminiscing on fame and how they managed to flunk out: Christopher Atkins (The Blue Lagoon), David Chokachi (Baywatch), Billy Hufsey (Fame), Jeremy Jackson (Baywatch), Eric Nies (MTV’s The Real World), Jamie Walters (Beverly Hills 90210) and Adrian Zmed (TJ Hooker, Grease 2).
I guess Leif Garrett was busy.
Each week the guys will get acting lessons, as well as participate in group therapy sessions led by a shrink who specialises in “fame.”
One reviewer says “in fact, the guys seem well-balanced, not especially egomaniacal, well-spoken and thoughtful. So far. By the second episode (that’s all that was sent), I found myself pulling for them, because even if fame is a bitch, losing it is worse – it’s a real bastard, in fact.”
Yup, it’s a slow news. Can’t wait for this to come to Oz.
