Horticulturalist Stephen Ryan will present his first Gardening Australia programme on January 31st.
Ryan replaces Peter Cundall who retired from the program last year after 39 years on the ABC. Very big shoes to fill.
“I’m really excited about being part of the Gardening Australia team,” said Ryan. “It is without doubt the best program of its type in Australia and to be given the host job is a highlight of my career.
“I hope that the team and I will take the program to even greater heights of excellence and build on its strong foundations well into the future.”
Executive Producer Tim Mitchell said, “It’s an exciting prospect to have a new face and such a highly regarded plantsman take the helm of Gardening Australia.”
Gardening Australia will celebrate its 20th year on air this year. Ryan, also an author and radio broadcaster has appeared a number of times on the show before.
For his first show, he shows viewers around his garden at Mt. Macedon in country Victoria, and reveals his gardening principles and his passion for plants.
His first hosting airs 6:30pm Saturday January 31st on ABC1.
