Swayze hospitalised with pneumonia

Patrick Swayze is sadly unable to fulfill promotional duties for the beast after being hospitalised.

Patrick Swayze has been hospitalised with pneumonia, a television network executive has said.

Swayze, who is battling pancreatic cancer, skipped a round of interviews scheduled to promote his new crime drama The Beast.

A spokeswoman for Swayze confirmed that the actor had been hospitalised in Los Angeles, but declined to provide further details on his condition.

Swayze most recently told Barbara Walters this week that he might have only two years to live.

“I’d say five years is pretty wishful thinking,” he told her. “Two years seems likely if you’re going to believe statistics. I want to last until they find a cure, which means I’d better get a fire under it.”

The American Cancer Society says pancreatic cancer has only a 5 per cent, five-year survival rate. The majority of patients die within six months.

The Beast, co-starring Aussie Travis Fimmel premieres in America on January 15.

  1. Oh man :( I really did have hope for him beating this, but I’m starting to think he’s being unbelieveably positive about it. He’s already beaten the odds by surviving this long after his diagnosis, let alone working as well. I’m just happy he’s making the most of the time he has left. It’ll be tragedy to lose him.

  2. Yeah it’s sad he’s one of hollywoods true good guys. hopefully he can last until there’s a cure & with medicine progressing the way it is who knows?
