Time ticks down to 24

Seven will launch season seven of 24 straight after the tennis. And here's a few other goodies they promise.

In response to questions from die-hard fans waiting for their legal dose of Jack Bauer, TV Tonight can now confirm that season seven of 24 (which started this week in the US) will have a 2 hour premiere in the week of February 1st.

As hinted, the 24: Redemption telemovie re-screening is another chance to help explain the vast time that has disappeared since season six in 2007. Bauer now has to contend with no CTU, a new female President and a bunch of new cast members.

Early in its ratings season, Seven will also return the following shows.

New Seasons:
Scrubs, 30 Rock, Boston Legal, All Saints: Medical Response Unit, How I Met Your Mother, Brothers and Sisters, Grey’s Anatomy, 24, Eli Stone.

Season Returns
City Homicide, Criminal Minds, Packed To The Rafters, Ghost Whisperer.

Dirty Sexy Money, interupted by the tennis, resumes February 3rd.

More announcements still to come.

  1. Excellent news! I loved the first season Eli Stone and I am very happy that I don’t have to wait until next summer for season 2. Also I can’t wait to see what is going to hapen in season 7 of 24. David, you have made my day.

  2. honestly! lost starts in america on wednesday. if they leave lost for easter or something then there will be no one watching. every one will have d/l it already!

  3. RichoTB, don’t you dare knock Kristen Chenoweth from Pushing Daisies! 🙂 She’s amazing and the total star of that show! I’ll be watching Legally Mad purely cos she’s in it, and hopefully it’ll be good to boot.

  4. And what’s the deal with David E Kelly and legal shows?? First Ally McBeal, then Boston Legal, and now the new series Legally Mad with that annoying chick from Pushing Daisies as the protagonist?? Dude seems to be running out of ideas

  5. Of course Lost will be back, Seven are more considerate than the other networks (excluding the occasional screw-up like the holding over of the Heroes S2 eps, etc). Now I’m thinking Ghost Whisperer will have the 8.30 Thurs slot followed by Eli Stone at 9.30 and Lost at 10.30.

  6. i’m also surprised and pleased to hear about eli stone, but lost is a worrying omission i hope it is one of their announcements that are still to come. fast-tracking volume 4 of heroes would also be greatly appreciated but i don’t know what the chances are.

  7. Neon Kitten, David E Kelley tends to lose the plot on all his shows, Ally McBeal went from funny, to dreadful almost overnight during the last couple of seasons.

  8. Thanks David, thanks to a friend I don’t really care if 7 or the others drop shows it’s just a pain not having then when we want in this age of instant gratification 😀

I thought by now ch7 would be winding up the promos for the returning show but all I’ve seen is H&A most night.

  9. I figured Seven would bring Eli back for a 9:30 slot in primetime. It started to pull figures of around 700k and they seem to like the show, so I reckon it’ll have it in a 9:30 slot either Wednesdays or Thursdays. There’s no way Seven will bump Lost to 11:30, it’ll be the one on Thursday nights and Beauty and the Geek will be shafted to midnight. I’m interested in seeing where these shows get placed. I wonder where Heroes will be put.

  10. Pleased to hear that about 24. No doubt with a 2hr premiere we’ll be looking at atleast a 9.30 timeslot, maybe 8.30 – before probably moving to 10.30. Also looking forward to Scrubs and 30 Rock. Hopefully 7 give put them together in a 10.30 slot. I’m surprised to hear Ghost Whisperer is returning so early, havent seen any promos yet.

  11. Obviously with Desperate Housewives billboards and promos doing the rounds we know it will be soon. However it just wasn’t named in the bunch given to me. I expect to know more on it shortly. I’ll look into Lost. I think we can safely say Knight Rider is unlikely.

  12. There’s just no pleasing you is there, Neon Kitten? 🙂

No mention of Lost? Now im starting to get a bit worried on this one. Boston Legal will take 10.30 Mondays, Scrubs/30 Rock will probably get 11.30 slots again, Eli Stone probably 10,30 Tuesday, 24 10.30 Wednesdays, we already know that Beauty and the Geek is taking Thursdays – Without even taking Ghost Whisperer into account, where else can they stick Lost aside from 11.30?

As long as they give it a slot, i have my trusty HD recorder…

  13. Eli Stone back quickly. I did not expect that. Good call, Seven. I seriously expected it would be a next-summer proposition and was preparing to acquire it by other means. You just saved the US-Australia internet pipeline several gigabytes 😉

Final season of Boston Legal is 50% utter-cringe-inducing. Be warned. David E Kelley officially loses the plot on this one. Indeed, Eli Stone is the sort of show Kelley used to make before he got an ego problem.

City Homicide… well, damn you, Seven, for holding back 8 episodes of last season to this year. Guess we can look forward to two end of season cliffhangers in one “season” though 😀

And as for Dirty Sexy Money being interrupted by the tennis… well, you all know by now how I feel about this “After The Tennis” crap. It’s not even in HD on Seven this season, so I’ll be downloading the rest so I have something to watch during the tennis 🙂

  14. Fantastic that Eli Stone’s continuing. It’s been our favourite new show this summer season. And yes I know that it’s been cancelled in the States so it won’t be on for too long!
