  1. I’m not sure if we will get the new leno show. In all the ads i’ve seen theyve mentioned that Conan will be moving to the Tonight Show and I have heard them say that Leno is retiring. I think we might just be getting The Tonight Show with Jay Leno until May, and then The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien from June. As well as Late Night with Jimmy Fallon from March.

  2. Leno has been produced 16:9 1080i HD since April 1999 — about 6 years before both Conan and Letterman. Foxtel simply aren’t getting the HD master of the show.

(The regular 4:3 NTSC versions of Letterman and Leno are centre-cut, whereas Conan is letterboxed).

IIRC, the satellite feeds are 4:3 NTSC only. If they wanted to show the HD version, they’d have to have it sent to them another way. This is perfectly feasible — Nine were happy to air the crappy looking 4:3 SD version of Letterman whereas Ten grabbed the 16:9 HD version.

  3. He’s great. He has been doing videos for a while now.

I think it will take a while (like it did for Conan) but I think he will probably get settled well there.
